Join us at the Alliance Française French Film Festival HerCanberra Ladies Night at Palace Electric Cinemas on Wednesday 13 March!

What do you do when your mother gets dumped? By your father?

You take her on an all-inclusive resort holiday to the tropical island of La Réunion, of course! Or at least that’s what sisters Rose and Alice decide to do when their mother is unceremoniously dumped by their father for a much younger woman.

This is the premise of Dumped, the comedy we’ll be screening at our second Alliance Française French Film Festival HerCanberra Ladies Night.

As a wild musician and a tight-laced parent respectively, Rose and Alice don’t have much in common, except their love for their mother Françoise and a shared goal to lift her from her depressive state. What ensues is a tropical romp through target ranges, sandy beaches, discotheques, holiday romances and perhaps a chance for these strong-willed sisters to make peace with each other – and their mother with her newfound single status.

Do we have your attention yet? A screening of the hilarious Dumped is just the tip of the piña colada when it comes to why you should come along to our HerCanberra Ladies Night at the luxe Palace Electric Cinemas on Wednesday 13 March.

Pre-film we’ll be indulging our guests with a a cocktail featuring Canberra Distillery and Her Canberra French Earl Grey Gin at Palace Electric’s intimate Prosecco Bar while they enjoy cheeses from Fromager d’ Affinois and assorted chocolates.

To get into the spirit of Dumped, Canberra comedian Maddy Weeks will be providing the laughs pre-film. If you want to see what you’re in for, here’s a sneak peek.

Has there ever been a better film to take your mother, sister or best friend to? We think not. Did we mention there’s a Lucky Seat Draw of massage and float from Float Above, proudly part of the Canberra Southern Cross Club.

Our Ladies Night is just one of the many events happening as part of the 30th annual Alliance Française French Film Festival and Dumped is just one of over 50 films showing from 7 March – 10 April.
