Pink Elephant Charity Run comes to Canberra to raise awareness for miscarriage and early pregnancy loss

It’s estimated that in Australia, one in three women lose their baby to miscarriage.

That’s 282 babies every day – and for the families, the impact is profound.

But for the first time, the Pink Elephant Charity Run is coming to Canberra to raise funds and awareness for those who have experienced miscarriage and early pregnancy loss.

Taking place on Saturday 26 October thanks to the efforts of Cbrmamas, a local community group for mums, in partnership with Back Yourself Fitness, the community event will bring together families and friends, to support those impacted.

An incredibly personal and often painful experience that affects an estimated 110,000 Australian women every year, miscarriage is a topic that many find difficult to talk about. The Pink Elephant Charity Run aims to break the silence, offering not only financial support but also a platform for conversation, healing, and solidarity.

Yasmin Johnson from Cbrmamas, knows all too well the significance of this event.

“Having a miscarriage can be one of the darkest and most traumatising moments in a woman’s life,” she says.

“Through this event, we want to help give women and their families the support they need to navigate such a difficult time, while also giving the wider community the opportunity to show their solidarity.”

The Pink Elephant Charity Run will be held across several states and territories, but Canberra’s first-ever event promises to be extra special. With a scenic track around Lake Burley Griffin, it will be a morning of community spirit. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just want to walk for a good cause, there’s a spot for everyone (even the kids!)

Every dollar raised from the event will go directly to The Pink Elephants Support Network to help make a significant difference in the lives of families navigating the challenges of miscarriage and early pregnancy loss.
