QT is throwing its biggest Melbourne Cup bash ever

If you’re serious about ringing in the spring racing carnival this year, QT Canberra’s annual Melbourne Cup Party is a sure thing.

With two ticket packages available, the whole ground floor of the hotel will be dedicated to the race that stops the nation, along with good food, great company and glamorous frocks.

The Sit-Down Lunch package features Capitol Bar and Grill’s famous feasting menu and a three-hour beverage package, including a glass of Mumm champagne on arrival and Lerida Estate Wines. The Italian-inspired lunch favourites are designed to share, with one eye on the race and the other on the fashions on the field.

If you’d rather mingle, the Garden Party package will kick off the celebrations with roving canapés and a three-hour beverage package also including Mumm champagne on arrival and Lerida Estate Wines. Wapengo oysters and a premium antipasto station will add a touch of luxury to the proceedings.

QT’s very own Fashion on the Field parade—hosted by Janette Wojtaszak from The Statement Life and The Fashion Vault—will make the most of the red carpet running through the space. Guests can enter the Best Dressed and Quirkiest Fascinator competitions, as well as sweeps and lawn games on the deck.

All the race-day action will be streamed direct from Flemington across multiple screens throughout the hotel, and the Cherry Pickers four-piece band will provide the soundtrack.

Pop-up bars and photo walls throughout the hotel will have you raring to go when the after-party rolls around at 4 pm. For this free event, DJ Ashley Feraude will hit the decks at Lucky’s Speakeasy until late.

If all that seems too exciting to wait for, you can swing by the QT Lobby to check out local artist Grace Costa’s Equine exhibition in the meantime. At the Equine launch party on Friday 20 September, there’ll be complimentary drinks and canapés in the QT Canberra lobby exhibition space from 6 pm.

As the next instalment of the hotel’s ‘Your art. Our walls.’ initiative, the most popular characters from Grace’s contemporary horse collections will be on show from 14 September to 5 October.

QT will be home to lots more special events throughout spring. To celebrate Floriade, for example, a special menu of floral cocktails will be on offer at Capitol Bar and Grill.

With flavours like Orange Blossom, Spring Spritz, Rose’s Garden and Lavender Dreams, these Insta-worthy creations will help you ring in the party season. Plus, if you post your floral cocktail to Instagram and mention and tag QT, you could win two NightFest tickets. A special-edition floral cannoli dessert will also be on the menu.

Hotel guests can get in on the fun too, with those who book QT’s Floriade Accommodation Package receiving a welcome plate with three mini chocolate floral pot plants. The recently announced Vroom Service will mean you can request very own MINI to explore the city during your stay absolutely free.
