Silver, gold and precious stones turn OBDM into a giant jewellery box

It will be all things glittery, precious and shiny as jewellery artists and designers from Canberra and further afield come together at The Jewel of Canberra at the Old Bus Depot Markets this Sunday.
“We’ll have many truly exquisite works from some of the region’s best jewellery designers and artists on the day,” says Old Bus Depot Markets Director, Diane Hinds.
“The best thing about this market day is that it’s a chance for visitors to find unique pieces, not mass produced jewellery you find in shopping malls.
“We will offer a large range of jewellery styles, price points and individual pieces because our stallholders are all independent designers and craftspeople,” Diane continues.
The Jewel of Canberra will feature necklaces, rings, earrings, brooches and pendants made from a variety of materials including silver, gold, recycled metal, pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, resin, ceramics, glass and more.
Genevieve Murphy is a local Canberra jewellery designer who works with ceramics. Her works, under her The Glory Box Jewellery label, include delightful pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets, cufflinks and brooches featuring sweet images such as birds, butterflies and floral designs in pastel and bold colours. Genevieve will have a good range available at Jewel of Canberra including some hand rolled porcelain beads.
Another fabulous jewellery designer, the award-winning artist Lillian Toms of Classy Glass Designs, will also be at Jewel of Canberra with her brightly coloured necklaces featuring high quality Italian and locally blown glass beads, Swarovski crystals and silver elements.
And it’s not just the locals at this event. Silversmith Emma Kidson, who now lives in Hanoi, will be joining the markets for Jewel of Canberra with her beautiful silver jewellery..
“Jewel of Canberra will feature over 30 jewellery stalls this year. And there’s always new and exciting pieces on offer. So come in and spoil yourself, a friend or loved one,” Diane concludes.
