Westfield Woden’s new Canberra-inspired play area opens just in time for summer

A newly designed Kids Play has opened at Westfield Woden and it’s quintessentially Canberran.
The colourful new indoor play space features artwork from local artist Bohie and bursts with Canberra icons, from magpies and hot air balloons to the Telstra Tower and Floriade’s tulips.
Located on Level 1 near David Jones, it’s a vibrant, sustainable space designed for children aged one to six, featuring dedicated zones for kids to climb, crawl and slide.
The space was designed with input from the Woden community and is full of interactive sensory elements designed to encourage exploration and imagination. Importantly, it’s also close to several coffee shops to allow parents to recharge while their little ones play.
“Relocated for better access to amenities, the newly designed Kids Play’s nature-inspired design and Canberran touches make it a perfect spot for children to play while parents can relax,” says Centre Manager Craig Smellie.
“Early feedback has been incredibly positive, and we’re excited to see it become a favourite for local families.”
With slides and climbing elements for different ages and lots of room to run, it’s sure to be popular with kids six and under. Best of all, there’s a dedicated parent zone with seating and pram parking.
Sounds like a cool new destination for hot summer days!
