Tired of hearing ‘women aren’t funny’ these four comedians are ready to prove the haters wrong

Come home to the dishes not clean, the laundry not hung out, underwear left on the bathroom floor and your partner sitting on the couch watching TV?

Laugh it off with the Canberra comedy show Why Women Kill… At Comedy!

Coming to Fun Time Pony on 19 March, this show has something that everyone can relate to with four different comedians, ranging from their early 20s to early 70s, each giving the audience a unique insight into how they find “the funny in even the most unfunny experiences”.

The comedians, Jelin Palm, Katrin Praseli, Effie Tan and Janine Jeffreys, will share the amusing ups and downs of their different life stages. From the reality of being single, to the struggles of married life and children, to the secret joys of being an empty-nester.

“I now live alone with my cats” says Comedian Janine Jeffreys.

“I think all women will recognise themselves at least once during the show”.

The all-woman comedic act also challenges the small-minded idea that ‘women aren’t funny’ by doing what comedians do best… making people laugh!

“Good comedy is where people can recognise themselves, perhaps not in the particular scenario but in the feeling that comes with it.” Janine says.

“It may be embarrassment, disappointment, or joy. If people can feel what the comedian has felt, then they can connect and laugh at the situation. I think if we are honest in our reactions to situations, we are less likely to fall into the trap of stereotypes.”

Despite all four women being “relatively new” to comedy, each of them has already appeared in a variety of national comedy shows.

These four women want to give Canberrans good bang for their buck, promising clever comedy and sore muscles from hours of laughing.
