From Labubu Buns to Birria Pizza and Cloud Soufflé: The Viral Food Festival is bringing 60+ trending dishes to Canberra

Posted on

From birria-dipped pizza to cloud-like soufflés and the cutest steamed Labubu buns, the Viral Food Festival is serving up the internet’s most talked-about eats at Thoroughbred Park from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 March.

If your feed is filled with outrageous desserts, indulgent street food and dishes that make you stop mid-scroll, you’ll want to clear your calendar. The Viral Food Festival is heading back to Canberra this month, bringing more than 60 trending food creations for a three-day celebration of the internet’s most talked-about eats.

Taking over Thoroughbred Park from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 March, the festival is built around the dishes that have been dominating TikTok and Instagram feeds around the world. Expect indulgent mash-ups, creative spins on classic street food and desserts designed to be just as photogenic as they are delicious.

More savoury sensations than you can poke a 30cm fry at

Raising Cane’s Chicken Dupe.

Among the headline acts is the Birria Dipped Pizza – a messy and wildly satisfying mash-up inspired by the global birria craze. Loaded with slow-braised birria beef, melted cheese and spices, it’s served with a side of savoury consommé for dunking, delivering the juicy, flavour-packed experience that made birria famous online.

Across the festival grounds, you’ll find plenty more viral bites to chase down. The Paratha Burger swaps a traditional burger bun for flaky, buttery Indian flatbread wrapped around a juicy patty and bold sauces, while BYO Nachos in a Bag turn snack chips into a fully loaded nacho creation built right in the packet.

Lobster Rolls.

Foodie favourites will also include fresh lobster rolls and the photogenic Matcha-in-a-Can, alongside stalls like Pocket Rocketz, home of the viral “spaceship jaffles”, naan tacos and their signature 64-hour slow-cooked butter chicken. Fans of American fast food will want to track down the Raising Cane’s Chicken Dupe – a chicken combo inspired by the cult favourite American fast food, complete with crispy fried tenders, golden fries, buttery toast and a tangy signature dipping sauce.

But that’s not all. The menu dives even deeper into the internet’s favourite food trends. We’re talking Cheese Burger Spring Rolls, Big Mac Tacos, Philly Cheesesteaks and Tacos in a Bag, alongside indulgent comfort food like Loaded Baked Potatoes and massive 30cm Fries.

And enough sweet treats to last until Halloween

Sweet tooths will find plenty to chase, including the cutest fluffy steamed Labubu buns, Disney churros dupes, Dubai chocolate strawberries, glow-in-the-dark candy, ice cream slices and cheesecake on a stick.

Another returning favourite is the Dubai Bubble Waffle. Crisp waffle bubbles are piled high with kataifi pastry and pistachio cream for a sweet treat that’s crunchy, creamy and almost guaranteed to end up on your camera roll.

Rainbow toasties.

Want even more? Rainbow Toasties bring a playful burst of colour with layers of vibrant fillings and molten cheese, while the delicate Cloud Soufflé lives up to its name – light, airy and gently jiggly, like eating a sweet little cloud.

And when it comes to drinks and novelty snacks, expect colourful bubble tea and bulb sodas popping up across the festival grounds.

More than munchies

While the food is the main attraction, the Viral Food Festival is designed to be much more than just a giant street food market. Throughout the weekend, the event will come alive with entertainment designed to keep the energy going from afternoon into the evening.

Live DJs will keep the atmosphere buzzing, while nightly bands perform in front of the Grand Stand. Crowd favourite PWA live wrestling will also return, bringing high-energy action to the festival lineup.

Families will find plenty to keep kids entertained too, with roaming characters including Optimus Prime and Blue the Raptor appearing throughout the grounds, plus carnival rides and games adding to the festival atmosphere.

So grab your friends, bring your appetite and get your camera ready. Canberra is about to taste the internet.
