Canberra is set to host a huge New Year’s Eve celebration this year, with lot of parties across the city.
From a big night out to an elegant soiree, there’s something for everyone in the capital. To get you started, we’ve rounded up our top picks for where to ring in 2020 in style.
QT Canberra has got you covered with options to stay and play this NYE. For front-row seats for the fireworks, ascend to the exclusive QT Lounge on the 15th floor.
The Lounge will be open to the public all night with drink specials and bar menu available. If you’d rather start the evening off with a contemporary Italian feast, Capitol Bar and Grill is taking dinner bookings for New Year’s Eve.
Lola’s is taking all the fuss out of New Year’s Eve. Canberra’s late-night pizza joint is offering a four-hour package, with bottomless beer, wine, sparkling and selected cocktails, as well as all-you-can-eat share plates and pizzas.
With a countdown, music and a laid-back atmosphere, Lola’s promises a fun night out in the city with friends and family.

If you’re looking for a big party with a small price tag, you can’t go past Shorty’s. Every weekday food deal will be available on NYE from 11.30 am–9 pm, including $15 salad and a drink, $18 schnitty or parmy with a drink, $20 rump with a drink and $15 burger with a drink.
From 9 pm, drink deals will include $12 espresso martinis, two for $12 vodka Red Bulls, $15 cocktail jugs and $5 tequila shots. A DJ will keep the party kicking, plus a countdown and a surprise at midnight.

Ginger Catering at the National Arboretum
With incredible views across Lake Burley Griffin, Ginger Catering at the National Arboretum is bringing in the new year with a bang. The theme is Summer in Paris, with live entertainment, a champagne tower and photo booth, and guests should dress to impress.
Tickets include canapés and bubbles on arrival, a beverage package of local wines and a three-course dinner prepared by Ginger Catering’s Executive Chef Janet Jeffs and her award-winning team.
Revellers can choose between the Under the Stars Soiree at The Howling Moon or the Swan and King speakeasy at The Rex Hotel.
The Howling Moon’s Twinkle Package includes a welcome cocktail, feasting tables, canapes, champagne at midnight and entertainment all evening.
For a little more luxury, the Glow Package includes VIP seating, table service, feasting tables, canapes, a beverage package, entertainment and bottles of champagne on ice at midnight.
Downstairs at the Swan & King, the Ritzy Package includes a glass of champagne on arrival, grazing tables, roaming canapes from 9 pm to 10.30 pm, a roaming magician, dedicated jazz trio and a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight from the champagne tower.
The speakeasy is ‘20s themed, with a night’s accommodation up for grabs for Best Dressed.

There’s a whole lot of New Year’s action happening south of the bridge, too, with Happy Hour at Hotel Realm‘s Ostani Bar from 5 –7 pm. There’ll be $6 tap beers, house wine and basic spirits, and $10 Kahlua Espresso cans to kick off your night, plus live music from 7 – 9 pm.
Groups of eight or more who book a table will receive a complimentary bottle of sparkling or cocktail jug.
Next door at Buvette Bistro and Wine Bar, foodies can enjoy a sophisticated three-course dinner with canapé and glass of Champagne on arrival, with the option to add matched wines from Spinifex in the Barossa Valley.
