Posted on

Theatre enthusiasts, we’ve got you covered.

It’s time to explore your passions and discover the world-class performances that Canberra Theatre Centre has on offer this spring.

The upcoming season is full of showstoppers combining all things dance, magic, and music, so we’ve rounded up our “top picks” for your calendars. Read on!

The Hello Girls

TimeOut NY said it best: “Move over, Mean Girls and Wicked: There’s a new musical exploding with grrrl power, female camaraderie and uplifting songs.”

There’s a new musical in town this spring and the women of 1918 America are here to make their mark! Join Heart Strings Theatre Co on a 100-year time warp to the US Army frontlines, where the fearless women of America are fighting change within the patriarchal space.

Packed with songs of companionship, sharing the powerful stories of the spirited individuals who led the women’s wartime movement, according to Artistic Director of Heart Strings Theatre Co Ylaria Rogers, it’s not a musical about war.

“When I listened to The Hello Girls soundtrack, I knew it was our next show. I could feel my heart beat and my breath drop in the first minute of the opening number. I read the synopsis and thought, ‘a piece about war, really?’, but it isn’t a piece about war! It’s a piece about women’s history, which was completely erased by men.”

Whether youre a lover of history, a passionate feminist or a curious learner, The Hello Girls is an entertaining thought-provoking piece of theatre made for everyone, everywhere (have a listen to the killer playlist below).
