Bar Lola (City)

Promising fresh, daily made pasta from a bespoke Italian menu, a kitchen open til 10 pm, an aperitivo list to drool over, and a dark and moody vibe inspired by former Italian model and 1950s film star Gina Lollobrigida, Bar Lola is bringing some Mambo Italiano to Verity Lane. And it looks like Canberra’s next hot spot…

French Egg Tarts, Fruit Danishes and classic croissants crafted French Lescure butter…sweet dreams are coming true at Bite & Savor.

Open in the Sydney Building, they’re baking buttery croissants, fresh sourdough, and decadent desserts six days a week. Make sure to keep an eye on their specials though, because from Melting Choc Brown Sugar Mochi to Charcoal Pistachio Cream Croissant, there will always be something new to try.

Green house (City)

Okay so it’s not exactly new, but it is in a new location and has a new vibe to match. And with a gorgeous indoor/outdoor garden aesthetic and a large outdoor terrace facing Mount Ainslie, it’s the perfect pit stop for an ONA coffee between browsing shops.

As for the food menu? For those looking for a delicious meal, you’ll find goodies like pancakes with guava maple syrup, strawberries, strawberry sorbet, rose mascarpone and marshmallow, along with all of their old favourites.

Lukumades (City)

Looking for a sweet snack, an Instagram-worthy dessert, or a taste of tradition with a modern twist? The city just got a whole lot sweeter with the opening of Lukumades.

Malatang City (City)

Malatang City is a new addition to the Canberra Centre’s food offerings, bringing a taste of Chinese street food to the city.

Designed so you can choose your own fresh ingredients to be cooked into a delicious soup, simply pick your basket, add your favourite ingredients, choose your soup flavour, and then weigh and pay and enjoy!

The Mandalay Bus (City)

It was an iconic part of the Canberra late-night food scene and when Kyaw “George” Thaung passed away in 2019, the missing Mandalay Bus became a hole in the hearts of many foodies. But this year, George’s son Stewart has once again donned a chef’s hat to take on his father’s legacy, reopening The Mandalay bus in the car park next to Haig Park.

Serving a mix of Burmese, Chinese, and Spanish cuisine as well as ‘gourmet fast food’, everything on the menu is extremely well-priced and will be just as delicious as you remember.

Sliceria (City)

With the news that Thapa Magar Hemnath AKA Chef Hem (one of only TWO Australians in the global Top 100 pizza-makers!) has opened a new eatery in the city, you better be excited.

Located on Marcus Clarke Street (next to where Miss Vans used to be), Sliceria will be offering Roman-style pizza by the rectangular slice, as well as schiacciata (thin focaccia sandwiches) and a selection of Roman-style deserts, including maritozzo, cannoli, tiramisu, and more.

Uptown Vibes (Braddon)

From the owners of Coco and Rye Bakery comes a new concept in dining – two floors of food experiences: a bakery and bar down below and a European bistro upstairs.

Zero Complex (Braddon)

Looking for something a little bit different? You’ll find a new café with a bold twist in Braddon as Zero Complex serves a Korean and Asian-inspired menu that will leave you wanting more.

That Other Place (Ainslie)

Keep an eye out for this seasonal pop-up once warmer weather returns, cause you’ll want to be quick to book a seat. From the talented team behind the award-winning Pilot and Such and Such comes a cute little cocktail bar.

Transforming the outdoor space of Pilot into a casual place for a drink and snack, the menu at That Other Place will be small but mighty – with options like Appellation oysters with tabasco, radish cakes and XO, or fried olives with feta, chilli and lemon on the food menu and cocktails including the Canberra Colada and the Not Pimm’s Cup.

Zaiqah (Dickson)

Zaiqah is open in Dickson with a menu of authentic Pakistani dishes and we’re already drooling.

From their ‘legendary’ Gol Gappy (crispy deep-fried hollow balls filled with chana chaat, served with sweet and tangy flavoured water) to their signature Lahori Tawa Fish, everything is priced between $10 to $25.

Breathing life into the newly refurbished West Block Building in the National Triangle, Heritage Café has opened as part of the massive $45 million renovation announced in 2022.

Snagging the space is the team behind Symonston’s Red Baron, a hidden gem in the area with a “if you know, you know” reputation, protected by their dedicated and loyal customers. Here’s a shot of good news – Barrio Coffee has opened an espresso bar in Fyshwick! Andre’s Osteria (Weston)

Inspired by the Mediterranean and focused on quality, seasonal, and locally sourced produce, this dining room and wine bar lives up to the hype. Sink your teeth into traditional Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches in Queanbeyan.
