Everything you need to know about canberra. ONE DESTINATION.

So often, Canberra gets labelled ‘sterile’ and ‘soulless’, with people discovering precious little unique things about the city.

But then something comes along that defies that description and embodies the creativity that we have in this town.

Case in point, Brodburger. That little red caravan that appeared in Bowen Park soon captured the imagination (and appetites) of thousands of Canberrans…and it wasn’t just because the burgers are amazing. It’s because it was different and quirky and a breath of fresh air.

And now there’s another little caravan that’s set to win hearts. Canberra, meet Norma.

Norma is a 1964 Sunliner Caravan owned by Belinda and Tim, the faces behind cupcake haven, Cherry Seed, in Gold Creek.  She’s named in honour of her old owners, Norma and Graham.

She is a fibreglass sunliner caravan built in Forster, NSW in 1964. Belinda and Tim had been searching for a van like Norma for quite a  long time…then, in February, they found her in Moruya. You can read her story here.

After a lick of paint and some beautiful styling, Norma is now available for hire. Belinda and Tim encourage Norma to be borrowed for everything from weddings to corporate launches to photographic shoots to picnics in the park. It’s just such a lovely idea!

If you’d like to meet Norma, she’s being launched in Gold Creek from 10am this Sunday 6 May. It’s set to be a fun day with music, food and good company!

Oh, and if you’re on the lookout for a fab Mum’s Day present, Hope Copeland Photography (who took the gorgeous photos on Norma’s website) is offering Mother’s Day Mini Sessions at Ginninderra Village next Sunday 13 May. $195 gets you a 20 minute session for up to five family members (and Norma, of course!) and includes a boxed cupcake from Cherry Seed, a matted print and five digital files.

What other unique gems are out there in Canberra land that we should know about???

Thanks so much for writing up this story. Its so great to see women in small business being supported and of course a wonderful fun-loving caravan that will create many sighs across Canberra. I went out today with my friend Trish and daughter for a lemon slice and yummy scrummy creamy latte made by the fabuloso Rachel. Thanks Belinda and Tim for bringing a little bit of loving to Canberra 🙂
