Since then, matcha spots have multiplied like the Gremlins do when they touch liquid. We’ve sipped, we’ve learnt, and we’ve evolved. Now we bring you our refined and tested list of matcha recommendations in Canberra.
And we can assure you our local matcha maniac has tried and tested every single spot herself. If it’s on this list, they’ve earned it.
Teddy’s Matcha (Pop-up)
It’s hard to imagine Canberra without Teddy’s Matcha in it. Stine and Tom have created an absolute gem that pops up across Canberra markets, Pilates studios and events. The combos we fell in love with most are Cookie Butter, Salted Maple, and Miso Caramel.
If this doesn’t convert you, nothing will, and we send our condolences.

Good Neighbour
For anyone living in Kingston, we are truly jealous that you’re neighbours with these guys. They’re well known for good reason – their specialty matchas lean more towards a dessert drink. Every season, the team delivers never-before-seen flavours; they’re a bit of a trendsetter here. The must-try drinks are Earl Grey Matcha, Coconut Cloud, and Blueberry Matcha.

It would be silly of us to do a matcha article and not mention Canberra’s very own specialty store. They work closely with partners directly from the farm to ensure exceptional quality and authenticity — this is the most premium matcha experience you can get in Canberra.
Hand-whisking is at the heart of Ujin’s craft; using a traditional chasen, they prepare every matcha with precision for the finest texture and balance. Retail tins are also available to buy. Our favourites are the Jasmine Milk Matcha Foam, Vanilla Matcha, and Sakura Matcha.

Keva Sips (Pop-up)
A new pop-up – we discovered them at the Southside Farmers Markets recently. Offerings include Jasmine Matcha, Black Sesame Matcha, Strawberry Matcha and even Hojicha. The Chocolate Hojicha is a beautifully well-balanced drink, and the Jasmine matcha is a perfect pairing.

Society Coffee Co
You may have seen their videos pop up on your socials – they’re constantly coming up with cool monthly combos like Apple Crumble, Banoffee and Birthday Cake. Tucked away in Grazier Lane, this one’s worth the detour.

Rose N Brew
Tuggeranong residents, you don’t have to go to the city to get your matcha fix. Rose n Brew has your perfect post-lake-walk pick-me-up, with options like Cloud Matcha, Rose Matcha, Taro Matcha, and Butterscotch Matcha. It’s also just a really cute place to be, with a gorgeous flower wall and aesthetic vibes.

Matcha Cartel (Pop-up)
Matcha with a Mexican twist, delivered by mother-son duo Sebastián and Lorena. They take premium ceremonial-grade matcha and blend it with the flavours they grew up loving.
Some of these include Horchata Nube, a Mexican classic reimagined — soaked rice milk blended with cinnamon and sugar for a soft base, topped with matcha. Matcha de Jamaica is dried hibiscus simmered down into a tart, ruby-red brew, sweetened and paired with matcha.

Roy Jr
These guys hand-whisk and have become a favourite for us in the Acton area. They have a Strawberry Cloud Matcha and a Strawberry Matcha, but the regular matcha is always smooth and tasty.

Mayfair Espresso
Make the trek over to No Name Lane for Tiramisu Matcha, Pistachio Matcha, and Coconut Cloud, which obviously caught our attention — but the regular matcha is yummy, fresh and smooth. Their hojicha is also worth a try.

Supersweet
Supersweet indeed – these guys have nailed their matcha offerings. Matcha basque cheesecake, cookies, crepe cakes, lattes and strawberry matcha are all served up in this always-busy Lonsdale Street locale. This is the place to grab a matcha and enjoy all the cool shops nearby.

This is our southside local. They’ve got regular matcha, strawberry matcha, and a dirty Oreo matcha. It’s strong (they use 9g) – we love getting it with coconut milk for an extra smooth, nutty taste.
