Chow down on these top-tier egg and bacon rolls in Canberra
Posted on
If you’re all about a quick and classic egg and bacon roll (E&BR) or prefer something with a bit more pizzazz, this list covers the spectrum.
Eight years have passed since the Egg and Bacon Roll Appreciation Society shared their favourite E&BR spots in Canberra with us, and I think we’re long overdue for an updated list.
Written in no particular order, these are my top picks based on the following criteria:
- The classic elements of the E&BR are done well – this means an oozy fried egg, smoky and/or crispy bacon, and a soft bun with a crispy outer shell.
- The ratio of egg, bacon, bun, sauce, and other elements are balanced.
- It stands out from the standard fast-food egg and bacon roll but NOT a breakfast burger (there is a difference, fancy pants!).
And you might be wondering – do greens belong on a E&BR? I’m not one to judge because this age-old question is much like whether pineapple belongs on pizza. And my answer to both questions are yes, it does! If you disagree, this is a judgement-free zone. This list considers this go-to brekky item in all its forms, so there will be an option (or two, or ten) for you.
As you can probably tell by now, I’m not messing about, so without further ado let’s get right into it.
