EatClub crosses the bridge: five southside faves

Posted on

EatClub recently landed in Canberra to give foodies up to 50% off their total bill (including both food and drinks) at top Canberra restaurants. And now southsiders can reap the benefits!

Some of Canberra’s best restaurants have signed up to EatClub, meaning you get to enjoy eating out more often. After a successful launch with restaurants in Civic and Braddon, EatClub has just announced a swag of inner south venues have joined the app.

EatClub lets you find last-minute deals at venues near you – it’s the perfect tool for those looking for a good-value wine or cocktails, and foodies who want to make their dollar stretch a little further. Keep scrolling to find out more about how it works.

Want to check it out yourself? Head to one of our favourite southside eateries and bars – you can find them all on the EatClub app. Download it today, redeem an offer, enjoy and tap to pay the discounted amount! Find out more about how it works here.

Champi

The name “Champi” is an homage to a small village along Xadone river in Champasak Province, Southwestern Laos, which is where Chef Aiden Xindavong’s family live. Champi is all about the taste of home—but this is a restaurant where the food speaks for itself.

Chu Chee Curry of Crispy Soft-Shell Crab with coconut cream and lime leaves, Grilled Pork Neck with a pickled Thai salad and the Kingfish Ceviche with lime, chill, fresh dill, crispy onions and chili dressing are all standouts.

Ideal for a leisurely lunch or dinner served with love, Rakkas offers a fine dining experience with satisfying, comforting meals that will warm you from the inside out.

Sink your teeth into a trio of dip and hot Turkish bread; fried halloumi served with honeycomb, thyme, and rose leaves; or King Fish Tartare, XO Mayo, Pickled Onion, Crispy Cracker Black Caviar.

A modern and light-filled Japanese restaurant, Tokyo Canteen is  serving up punchy flavours for lunch and dinner in the Eyre Street precinct in Old Kingston shops.

The menu showcases Japanese favourites including Kare Raisu Japanese Curry and Okonomiyaki, and we’re also suckers for their Panko Chicken Sando with Lotus Chips.

Queenies

The stately Queenies, with its high wood-beamed ceilings and velvet-drenched interiors on the corner of Giles and Kennedy Street needs no introduction – and their menu is completely gluten-free (yes, really). We love the eggplant chips and Kingfish Sashimi.

Behind that starry bar, the cocktail menu features a mix of classic cocktails as well as low- and no-alc beverages and even gluten-free beer.

We’ll say it: sometimes something as simple as a sandwich slaps. Newly opened on the Kingston Foreshore, this cool café serves up daily-made goodies – including muffins, banana bread, cakes, and scones with jam and cream – which are available until close, along with loaded with toasties and bagel.

Need a suggestion? We recommend sinking your teeth into the B.I.G Mama’s Special bagel: pulled pork with homemade slaw, and aioli sauce, served in a special round croissant.
