It’s time to head to Queanbeyan to try traditional Tuscan schiacciata sandwiches. The creation of Joshua and Melinda Kosteski – the family behind the local Italian restaurant Pronto – Fresca Café is open in the QPRC building and was inspired by trip to Italy in 2014.
Serving the traditional sandwich from Tuscany (which is made with a range of local and imported Italian ingredients), options include the Mortadella Schiacciata (crema di pistachio, mortadella, straciatella, and crushed pistachio), the Mediterranean (basil pesto, arugula, fior di latte mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, mixed Mediterranean vegetables and balsamic) and the Tartufo with melted tartufo di pecorino, capocollo and truffle oil. Drooling yet?

The perfect stop for a glass of wine, spritzer or charcuterie board, every week they handpick three wines paired with carefully selected cicchetti for a special tasting experience. Add on a platter to have there for a true taste of Italy without having to travel to the city (or leave the country).

From the owners of Coco and Rye Bakery comes a new concept in dining – two floors of food experiences: a bakery and bar down below and a European bistro upstairs.
Open for all-day (and night) dining, the best way to explain Uptown is that it has a European feel and flavours, with the joys of fresh, locally baked bread and pastries. And with an all-day bar, you can choose from an espresso or espresso martini from 7 am.

Serving breakfast and lunch daily, from Thursday through to Sunday, you can also enjoy lakeside sunset views while diving into a diverse dinner menu.
And while the day sees fresh dishes inspired by Australian classics and served with a twist, the dinner menu fuses together global flavours. Think: Butter Chicken, traditional Chimichanga, Kebab Platter, Dirty Samosa and even Parmigiana.
