Five perfect comfort food recipes you’ll love

Posted on

The wet weather has us wanting to eat our feelings.

So, we’ve rounded up five of our favourite comfort food recipes that you’ll be happy to hunker inside to eat.

Chicken, pancetta and bean stew with sage

This isn’t the prettiest dish in the world, but it sure is tasty—not to mention simple!

The classic flavour combination of chicken and sage is given a boost by crispy sage, and the addition of cannellini beans makes this a comforting and filling stew that’s perfect for a winter’s night.

Pasta with sausage, lemon and nutmeg

A little like Carbonara, this Umbrian dish is so moreish that it’s hard to stop at one bowl! Be sure to use a good quality Italian sausage. Can’t find fresh pappardelle? Just cut some fresh lasagne sheets into thick ribbons!

Classic French Beef Daube

The French really know their casseroles. This rich, hearty braise is packed full of veges (and red wine) and simply melts in the mouth. It’s the bomb with creamy mash.

Lamb, Mint and Pea Pie

Big call, but I think this may be the best lamb pie ever created. Tender chunks of lamb are complemented by its classic flavour match—mint—while green peas add a sweet pop. Bloody delicious.

Easy Coq Au Vin

If you’re after something a little more elegant (for that Zoom dinner party, perhaps?), this recipe from Delicious Magazine’s “Faking It” cookbook is a cracker.

While it takes a fraction of the time of a traditional Coq Au Vin, you lose none of the flavour. It’s a little fiddly in parts (or you may like peeling tiny onions?) but it’s not as if any of us have anywhere to be at the moment.
