Five Canberra treats you need to get into your mouth ASAP

Posted on

If you have a sweet tooth, this list is for you.

From an Oreo Bingsu to Canberra’s answer to the viral Erewhon smoothie, and a collaboration that sweet dreams are made of, here are five things to eat and drink in Canberra that you need to get into your mouth ASAP.

It’ll be well worth the sugar high.

The Choc Malt Crunch from Three Mills Bakery

Three Mills Bakery has turned its cinnamon and croissant dough into a topping and added it to a drink. And honestly? It sounds addictive.

The Choc Malt Crunch is now available at all the Three Mills stores and rumour has it that they’ll also be experimenting by adding a shot of coffee. Chocolate, coffee, cinnamon and croissant flavours all in one drink? We’re there.

Yes, we’re already talking about hot cross buns – but you’ll want to know about this. The Bakehouse Mitchell has whipped up some creative and delicious combinations that might even convert the most traditional HCB lover.

While all of them sound amazing (including Milo Double Choc, Everything Hot Honey and Lemon Meringue), it’s the Easter Maple you need to get into your mouth. Think: maple bacon dough with cream cheese centre and sticky mustard maple bacon on top. Drooling yet?

The Strawberry Matcha Gelato from Spilt Milk Bar

It’s the collaboration sweet dreams are made of: Spilt Milk Bar has partnered with Good Neighbour!

Creating a gelato inspired by their iconic Red Velvet Cookie, Good Neighbour matcha fans are also in for a treat, because Spilt Milk is also serving a Strawberry Matcha gelato.

Made with a top-secret organic ceremonial-grade matcha and handcrafted in store, you can try it for a limited time. Run, don’t walk.

The Island Bliss Smoothie from Rose N Brew

Is this Canberra’s answer to the viral Erewhon smoothie? Rose N Brew are blending up some sweet drinks that would look just at home in Hailey Bieber’s hand as they do by Lake Tuggeranong.

Your choices include the Rose Glow and Ocean Breeze, but we recommend the Island Bliss – banana, pineapple, mango, vanilla yoghurt, passionfruit and coconut milk. Make the most of it before the temperature drops!

It’s the best of both worlds – a cookie and cream taste made with fluffy shaved ice. Oishii Go in the Capital Food Markets has created an Oreo Bingsu for their late-night dessert offerings, and a drive to Belconnen has never sounded so good.

Only available Thursday to Saturday between 5 pm and 9 pm, for the full experience order the Oreo matcha to sip on while you dive into your dessert.
