For our Break The Mould edition of Magazine we wanted to reimagine some childhood favourites that still…
What could be better than a gentle stroll around Canberra’s picturesque Lake Burley Griffin of a warm afternoon?
How about a gentle stroll with a wine and antipasto pit-stop along the way?
Lerida Estate has taken over the deck at the Canberra Visitor’s Centre for a pop-up wine bar over the coming summer months. And, with everything crossed that Canberra’s rainy streak clears up, it is open from today!
You’ll spot the wine barrel table set-ups as you near the Captain Cook Jet, and there are a few options available for maximum enjoyment.
Firstly, plan ahead and ditch the leisure wear. Book the five-course tasting experience for each hour between 12-4 each day which comes with an antipasto platter put together by the team at The Italian Place to share.
Option two is to simply rock up en route around the lake and hopefully snare a wine barrel to lean on. You can sample one of five wines by the glass, with the wine list changing weekly.
With a deck capacity of 26, the final option is to wander up, buy a bottle, some acrylic wine glasses and a takeaway antipasto platter and grab a spot on the grass. It certainly makes for a more exciting way to stave off thirst than bubblers dotted around the lake.
Lerida Estate’s general manager Andrew McFadzean said the pop-up was a lovely way to enjoy the summer weather (yes, anytime from now Canberra would be nice…) in a Covid-safe and al fresco way.
He also suggested there would be few better views than that of the sparkling water surrounded by national monuments.
“It’s great to be able to bring ourselves to the people and to celebrate the city post-lockdown.”
Lerida by the Lake will operate from 12-5 Monday to Thursday and from 12-8 Friday to Sunday.
