Take your taste buds on a world tour when the National Multicultural Festival takes over…
Next month, Braddon will welcome its very first farmers market to Haig Park.
The Haig Park Village Markets will take place weekly on Sundays from 8 am – 2 pm at the intersection of Lonsdale and Girrahween Streets, kicking off on Sunday 7 February with a wide range of fresh produce and more.
Stallholders will be offering flowers, fresh produce, artisanal breads and snacks to enjoy as you browse at the first market, with 30 stallholders confirmed so far.
Haig Park Village Markets Director Rosemary Green says she’s excited to bring a slice of farm-to-table life to inner-city Canberra.
“We are working to create a lively community hub and want to ensure the Haig Park Village Market is not only a great place to get fresh produce for the week, but a place where people can spend the day, connect with each other, our stallholders, and learn about the food they eat,” she says.
“Markets are not just about selling produce and craft, they are a community within a community—a place to come together, get to know one another and celebrate everything that is local.”
Rosemary’s fellow Director Alexandra Webb couldn’t agree more, adding that the pair’s shared love of Sydney’s market scene gave them the inspiration for the Markets.
“Canberra is the perfect place to create the market we had envisioned for so long and we are excited to have the support of the ACT Government to deliver these markets in the beautiful Haig Park,” she says.
