Eggs Benny Croissant and seven other autumn brunches to warm you from the inside out
Posted on
These chilly mornings have been a humble reminder that summer is now behind us.
Let us all have a moment of dignified silence for outdoor picnics, the beach and mornings where you don’t have to prepare a bucket of warm water to throw on your car.
However, if you feel yourself slipping into the SADs, stop right there. It doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. Hot chocolates, mushrooms and food that is warm in all the right places are some of life’s little joy. These cafés will make a cold Canberra weekend just a tad more bearable.

If you’re like me, cold days mean salads are entirely out of the question. How am I supposed to chop lettuce when my fingers are this cold?
Whilst it easy to swap vegetables for vitamin tablets it’s just as easy to pop to The Knox in Watson. Their root veg salad has done the hard work for you, filled with all those good things your doctor tells you that you should eat.

Millennials cop a lot of flack for their excessive consumption of avocados, but can we blame them?
Braddon’s Gather offers this versatile fruit even through these colder months. Scoff down this flavourful delight while debating how many houses you could buy if you didn’t eat avocado on toast.

Fox & Bow

Fancy getting your mitts on a fancy bowl of chips and muscles? Farrer’s Fox & Bow has you covered.
Combine that with a beer and chinwag with your mate and an autumn afternoon in Canberra might not feel that gloomy after all.

The Front

If a soggy supermarket mushrooms or the fact they can grow literally anywhere (flashbacks to that share-house that had a constantly leaking roof) have turned you off this flavourful fungus, then you need to try The Front’s Mushroom Melody.
Served on rye toast with vintage cheddar, you will forget about why you stopped eating them in the first place.
