Club Sup comes to Canberra to combine cocktails with making connections

Posted on

Never has the Bridget Jones quote about dying alone only to be found half-eaten by an Alsatian felt so relevant.

Even in a world where social connection is constantly at the tip of our fingers, making a friend (especially as an adult) feels harder than ever.

That’s what sparked the idea of Club Sup, a viral dinner party project that sells out months in advance. And now it’s in Canberra.

Founded by Sophie McIntyre in 2021 after holding an intimate gathering of 12 strangers around a shared table, Club Sup has grown into something of a social sensation – with over 100 suppers and events held Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and more than 1,000 people brought together over a meal.

Add in events like Book Swap, Lunch Club, and 40+ Lunch Club and you can see why Sup Club has become so popular – and why tickets for the Canberra event are flying out the door.

Taking over Ballyhoo on Wednesday March 12 and Wednesday 9 April (hopefully with more events planned for the future), the Canberra Club Sup will see attendees greeted by a local host who will help to break the ice over a delicious three-course meal and paired wines.

There are no phones (unless it’s to exchange numbers or Instagram handles), no pressure and the promise of a good time.

And with Ending Loneliness Together finding one in three Australians feel lonely and one in six experience severe loneliness, it’s needed more than ever.

Combating loneliness with one cocktail at a time (while also removing the stigma), find out more or book your spot here.

There’s no need to start overfeeding your Alsatian.
