Local Loves: La Empanada

Posted on

When Andre and Andrea Nogales launched La Empanada at the Old Bus Depot Markets in 2016, they would never have imagined that just four years later they would have their own shopfront on Gungahlin’s bustling Hibberson Street.

Having started with cold take-home empanadas, over time the business expanded to sell hot takeaway food at hundreds of major events throughout the ACT, quickly gathering a cult following.

“We are now proud to say we have opened up our very own South American bakehouse in Gungahlin, where we sell more than just empanadas,” says Andrea.

“We have lots of South American desserts, savoury food and even a small Latin American grocery section,” adds Andre. “Did we mention we even sell waffles?!”

La Empanada’s blast-frozen empanadas are also now available from 11 Canberra IGAs, Grocers and SupaBarns, so you can create your own Latin American feast at home.

During COVID, La Empanda is offering takeaway options, with their store undergoing regular deep cleans. For those who prefer to stay in, La Empanada can come to you via contactless delivery.

A uniquely delicious Latin American offering, find La Empanada in a supermarket near you (click here to find your closest location) or order takeaway or delivery via their website.
