Escape to North Eastern Victoria this November for gnocchi and prosecco in the sunshine.

‘The Italian Spirit’ is the tagline of the King Valley, nestled in North Eastern Victoria, and for good reason too.

The King Valley’s unique climate and high elevation (up to 800m) were recognised by Italian migrants in the 1940s for their potential to grow delicious cool-climate wine varietals from the old country. Fast-forward 80 years and the region is famed for its pinot grigio, sangiovese and nebbiolo, as well as warm, generous hospitality across the region’s cellar doors, cafés and restaurants.

The gem in the King Valley crown is their La Dolce Vita food and wine festival, held over the weekend of 18 and 19 November. Celebrating the King Valley’s Italian roots (literally), the festival includes markets, degustations, tasting showcases, kids activities, live music and master classes all wrapped up into one delicious weekend. And the best part? It’s just a four-hour drive from Canberra.
