Leyla opens in Barton next week and they had us at ‘rooftop bar’

With a breezy, coastal vibe and one of the best views in Canberra, Leyla is the rooftop bar the inner south has been waiting for.

Perched on the rooftop of the Burbury Hotel in Barton, the latest addition to the DOMA Hotels stable is set to open next Friday 10 June and looks to be the perfect destination for those craving respite from this already-savage winter.

Designed by award-winning Sydney-based architects, Luchetti Krelle, the light-filled space boasts a warm white palette, with soft curves, textural layers of timber and stone, and pops of terracotta and green.

Patrick Lonergan, Director of Hotels, said that Leyla takes the Canberra bar scene to a whole new level (literally).

“Take a lift up to the rooftop … and be greeted by sweeping skyline views of the leafy city, Lake Burley Griffin and beyond, then enjoy a crafted signature or classic cocktail as you watch the sun set behind some of Canberra’s most iconic buildings. “

But views aren’t the only thing this rooftop cocktail bar is serving up. Expect a light and playful menu filled with smaller bites—both savoury and sweet—accompanied by a wide selection of creative cocktails, premium spirits, local and imported wine, beer and bubbles.

“Leyla brings to Barton a fantastic new setting for guests to enjoy an elevated and contemporary drinking experience … and the perfect backdrop to relax and enjoy a night out with friends,” Mr Lonergan said.

During the day Leyla will operate as a lounge for Burbury Hotel guests, offering a light-filled location to work or meet with friends, with a light snack and drinks menu on offer. By night, as the daylight fades and the Canberra skyline lights up, Leyla will transform into a sophisticated cocktail bar.
