Posted on

Over 70 new eateries have landed in Canberra since the start of this year. And we know there are more on the horizon. What is going on with this city’s appetite?

Twice a year, we pull together our ultimate guide to every new dining spot in town – and twice a year, we’re floored by just how fast Canberra’s food scene is expanding. Is it overwhelming? Absolutely. Are we complaints-free and thoroughly fed? 100 per cent.

Even by our standards, 2026 has been a monster year for new openings. From hidden precinct bars to suburban hidden gems, here is the ultimate, precinct-by-precinct guide to everywhere new you need to eat right now.

Taking over the space that was home to Locale Pizzeria, you’ll be able to get your hands on Little Sutton’s signature sourdough, gourmet pies, baked goods and country-style cakes during the day. Then, in the evenings (from September onwards), you can set your hungry sights on fresh-fired pizza.
