Getting your vegetable fix can be difficult with hectic weekday schedules. Luckily, the weekend is…
In a move that’s sure to be music to the ears of SAFIA fans, the Canberra band has teamed up with Braddon’s BentSpoke Brewery to create Resonate, a beer brewed with music.
So how does one brew a musical beer?
Well firstly, you create a custom 24-hour track to “change the way the yeast behaves and ultimately contribute to the beer flavour.” Naturally.
“The resonance of the music in the tank helps the yeast to propagate in the aerobic growth phase,” explains BentSpoke head brewer and co-owner Richard Watkins.
“Healthy yeast produces a much cleaner profile, which in turn allows us to showcase the unique hop profiles in this beer.”
The 24-hour track, seemingly titled ‘Yeast Party 24 Hours’, features samples from SAFIA‘s soon to be released album ‘Story’s Start or End’.
“BentSpoke’s emphasis on ingenuity and substance over style made this collaboration feel like the perfect fit,” says SAFIA’s lead vocalist Ben Woolner.
“Working with Rich and the team to create a beer using our music was an extremely rewarding experience that we won’t forget anytime soon.”
On an extremely limited release (so best get in quick), Resonate will be the first of BentSpoke’s ‘Freewheelers’ – a series of beer-y collaborations that will celebrate community partnerships.
And as for the beer itself?
It will be “approachable” and “sessionable”, ideally the perfect beer for kicking back with mates as you listen to SAFIA’s new album.
The result is a “pale ale with a touch of coconut hop aromas” with a super-clean malty palate”, which will be available from 12 am on Friday 9 August via online retailer Boozebud, or directly from BentSpoke’s Braddon brewpub.
But wait, there’s more. As part of the collaboration, some randomly selected six-packs of Resonate will contain double passes to a SAFIA concert or a voucher for a case of BentSpoke beer.
