Six delightful Matcha Latte spots in Canberra

Posted on

Canberra is a city where a cup of coffee reigns supreme. But while caffeine is  a definite staple and loved by many, nothing compares to matcha lattes. And much like coffee, matcha is an acquired taste.

I started an expedition a few years ago, looking for tasty alternatives to coffee that would still give me that energy boost I need to last the day—best without that coffee crash or aftertaste—and along the way, I became addicted to matcha lattes.

Maybe you are reading this as a matcha drinker looking for new spots to try, or one completely new to this. But look no further, here is my curated list of my most favourite local matcha spots in Canberra!

Maple and Pine Cafe

One for the southside, enjoy that leafy and refreshing taste of iced matcha (see the delicious feature image) by the pine forest in Isaacs, at the newly opened Maple & Pine!

Cafe Mizzuna

Cafe Mizzuna matcha latte comes in a vanilla version.

A café nestled in the leafy campus of the University of Canberra, Bruce. Offers a warm vanilla matcha latte, enjoy the sweeter side of your study day at Café Mizzuna with their jazzy tunes and café chatter. They are located below the main concourse, accessible by stairs in front of the library.

Gus’ Place

In the heart of Garema Place stands a classic coffee joint, Gus’ Place. Their matcha lattes are served warm with soy milk. Soothing yet energising for that morning matcha.

Supersweet Cafe

SuperSweet’s earthy version.

Located in the heart of Braddon, Supersweet is a café that has found a place among Braddon’s coffee shop scene. It sells the usual coffees a standard café may have, but with an addition that they do extremely well: the matcha latte, served over ice or warm. Supersweet’s take on this delectable drink includes a refreshing and earthy mix of matcha and your milk of choice. On the side, why not add a freshly-made mille crepe cake?

Green House Coffee & Food Co

Located In the Canberra Centre, Green House Coffee & Food Co offers a sweet and refreshing iced matcha latte that can also be served warm. Their take on this drink is sweeter, and more palatable for first-time drinkers.

Canberra Centre, London Cct, Canberra City | @greenhousecoffeeco

Teddy Pickers

Teddy Pickers does a coconut matcha latte.

Make your way to Teddy Pickers in Campbell and enjoy an iced coconutty matcha latte with their expansive savoury-to-sweet menu, along with the bold interior and alternative background music.
