Spring into The Forage this October

From loaded corn to fried ice cream and Insta-worthy burgers, we’ve got the lowdown on The Spring Forage.

Returning to the Little National Hotel in Barton next Saturday 6 October from 2-7 pm, The Forage is a mainstay in the diaries of Canberra’s flavour inclined.

Continuing to push the palates of foodies from Canberra and beyond, the street food event is known for its innovative (and delicious) selection of vendors. True to form, the spring edition sees a mouth-watering line-up of newcomers join a host of returning favourites.

So, who are the new kids on the Forage block?

Garnering favour amongst the city’s gastronomes, Zaab Street Food is known for bringing the street eats of Laos and Thailand to its Lonsdale Street locale. This spring, experience the bold flavoured fare in its intended format as Zaab makes its Forage debut.

In keeping with the street food trend, El Choclo will also make its inaugural Forage appearance. Purveyors of South American style grilled corn, El Choclo encourage you to load up on vege with a cob layered with smatterings of condiments, cheese and more.

Sweet tooths delight as two new ice cream inspired vendors hit the stalls. Making the journey south from Sydney, Duo Duo Ice Cream brings ultimate indulgence (read: fried ice cream) to town. But that’s not all, Limogela will also be on hand, scooping artisan gelato from a custom limousine. Yes, you read that right. A limousine.

To whet your whistle, this spring Forage will see a unique collaboration between Underground Spirits and Bellerophon Coffee. Small batch specialty cold brew and boutique spirits will collide in the cup for the ultimate Espresso Martini and other surprise cocktails on tap.

But wait, there’s more. And it’s big too. This Forage will give you the chance to enter an exclusive giveaway thanks to The Forage’s new partnership with Qatar Airways.

This partnership will see one lucky market-goer win two return economy class flights to anywhere across Qatar’s 55 European destinations.

Yes, that’s right. Come for the outstanding street food, leave with a holiday to look forward to!

Of course, it wouldn’t be The Forage without the classics

Returning this spring, fan-favourite Rolling Schnitzel is back after a successful debut at winter’s Forage. Fricken Chicken also returns, bringing burgers, boxes and even cones of the good deep-fried stuff to Barton this October.

Indulge your sweeter side with treats from award-winning Canberra chocolatiers, Jasper + Myrtle. Cones of decadence will also be available courtesy of Get Whipped Cheesecake as well as freshly rolled treats from the Cannoli Brothers.

To wash it all down, crack a cold one with local experts in craft draughts, Capital Brewing and Bentspoke. Vino more your thing? Enjoy a glass (or two) with The Pop Inn and Majura Winery.

Also returning for The Forage’s spring chapter, The Canberra Distillery will be making and shaking an exclusive cocktail using the coveted (if we do say so ourselves) HerCanberra French Earl Grey Gin. After selling out in ten minutes at the last Forage, the Distillery has upped the stock for October’s market so everyone can take home a bottle of colour-changing goodness.

While The Forage is dedicated to mouth-watering eats and treats, it’s not all about the food (just mostly).

The spring Forage also boasts a top-notch musical line up to entertain you while you indulge. Dine to the tunes of Official MANA, Minh Ha Music and Aloise (a.k.a Amy from Kaleid) as they take to the Forage stage. Subsdance will also roam the market, performing roving Afro Samba.
