Four of the best vegan brunch options in Canberra

Posted on

Love having a long, lazy brunch on the weekends but find it hard to avoid the classic bacon, eggs, and sausages?

Luckily for us vegans, thanks to popular demand on a climate-change affected world, eating an animal-product-free brunch has never been easier!

Here are five of the best vegan brunches and breakfast options available around Canberra.

Breakfast Burger – Sweet Bones

As one of Canberra’s most iconic vegan restaurants, this rock ‘n’ roll style café in Braddon is heaven for a long lazy weekend brunch.

Why? Because Sweet Bones offers breakfast foods such as pancakes, organic granola, avocado on toast, and banana bread all day long.

However, if you’re not quite up to the Sweet Bones Big Breakfast, then you have to give their Breakfast Burger a try.

With homemade tofu scramble, lettuce, tomato, onion, Tabasco, ketchup, hummus and smokey coconut bacon, the Breakfast Burger, it’s unmissable.

Vegan Eggs Benny – Green with NV

Green with NV is the vegan option that ANU desperately needed, and the new Kambri Precinct has delivered.

Catering for carnivores, omnivores and herbivores alike, it’s impossible to go past the cafe’s Vegan Eggs Benedict, which is mushrooms served on Canberra’s own Three Mills Bakery Turkish rolls topped with kale, vegan hollandaise, roasted chickpeas and even truffles.

This is an absolute godsend for vegans who miss a good hollandaise.

This Instagram sensation is part café, part organic grocery store and all delicious. Bitten’s 100% organic All-day Breakfast is perfect for any health and environmental conscious diner, and their specials are also catering to anyone with specific dietary requirements.

One of the best brunches I had at Bitten Goodfoods had to be the Avocado Macadamia Feta Stack, which, despite its use of the term ‘feta’ in the title, is completely vegan as it uses vegan cultured butter and feta made from macadamias!

Popped on top of Three Mills’ Sourdough with avocado and hemp dukkah, you can munch of this stack before perusing Bitten’s supermarket aisles for vegan organic goodies.

Salted Caramel Bowl – Acai Brothers

Not only is over 95% of the Acai Brothers’ menu vegan, but their super bowls are also delicious and pack quite the health punch too.

Pronounced ahh-sigh-ee, Acai is a purple berry from the Amazon that’s full of antioxidants, polyphenols, and monounsaturated fats.

Containing delightful mixtures of seeds, grains, fruits, and toppings, there’s a colourful breakfast bowl for just about anyone, but the best has to be the Salted Caramel Bowl.

Made from a base of acai, banana and salted caramel protein, this bowl is topped with COYO Coconut yoghurt, chocolate bickini, caramel sauce and three different types of fruit. Fresh and delicious.
