It’s popping: Canberra’s boutique pop-up wine bar
Posted on
We’ve enjoyed the likes of delicious pop-up stalls before (let’s not forget the early days of Brodburger by the lake) but perhaps not quite like this.
The sophisticated new kid on the block, The Pop Inn by Wine & Co, offers a new style of outdoor entertainment for wine and food lovers alike, and trust me, it’s definitely no side door food truck.
The stylish fit-out, designed by local Canberran architects DJAS, feels as luxurious as a permanent bar but utilises the opportunity to enliven some beautiful locations around Canberra.

The Pop Inn at Mount Ainslie
From stunning hidden views of the Lake Burley Griffin shoreline to elevated sky high locations at the top of mount Ainslie, “wine poppers” can bask in the sun whilst sipping on locally crafted and international wine in a cosy and intimate setting.
Owner of The Pop Inn, Kimberley Ohayon, envisioned a space that allowed for close interaction between her staff and customers.
“We are a small capacity operation, which gives us the chance to get to know our customers and ensure they have a great experience. We have approachable wines and our team are always happy to make a recommendation for those unsure what to try”.

As a lover of all things wine, Kimberley is passionate about the stories of the winemakers and vineyards behind her favourite labels and wants to pass on these narratives to her clients. She has developed a unique menu that offers distinctive, hard to find wines from intriguing backgrounds.

“The idea is to give people a great experience and perhaps a story with their glass,” she explains. Although, what is a good glass of drop without some nibbles?
To go with your drop of choice, you can indulge in decadent platters constructed from Australian and international cheeses and olives. In the event of a non-wine lover attending The Pop Inn, they can still satisfy that weekend thirst as they also sell Canberran PACT Beer and soft drink for the little ones.
So gather up your closest girlfriends, hustle up the kids or come and cuddle up with your partner on a picnic rug in a new completely setting. The Pop Inn will be unrolling its doors on the lawns of Telopea Park this weekend across March 31 April 1 and 2 and to our delight, The Forage on Saturday 8 April at Little National Hotel, Barton. Can anyone say Saturday afternoon drinks?
