This Canberra bar has introduced a shot so spicy you have to sign a waiver first

Spice lovers, assemble!
Actually, scratch that – psychopaths who see the words ‘Carolina Reaper’ and get excited, assemble. City restaurant Loquita has unveiled a new menu that puts chilli front and centre and honestly, we’re a bit scared.
Firstly, you can now play a game of Taco Roulette, where a platter of 10 tacos – nine deliciously normal, one laced with extra hot Bumble F**ked Hot Sauce – is placed on your table, with your group taking turns to select a taco and dig in.
Your reward should you get stuck with the horror taco? A frozen marg, on the house. And hopefully some therapy.

How can something look so delicious but also so terrifying?
Not enough for you?
Loquita has also introduced Hot Wings Wednesday where you can snap up a 1kg bucket of chicken wings coated in Carolina Reaper (the hottest chilli in the world) chilli sauce for just $10. Crying sold separately.
Still not enough? On Hot Wings Wednesday, there will also be the chance for you to appear in the new Loquita ‘Hall of Flame’ by taking part in their Hot Wings Challenge, which involves devouring that one-kilogram bucket of wings as quickly as possible.
I for one couldn’t possibly pass up the opportunity for all of Canberra to see a photo of me with tears streaming down my face.

Pass me the tissues.
“It seems easy in theory, but being so spicy means it’s harder and harder to get through each wing with every second,” explains Brendan Hill, Executive Chef of HARVAC, who operates Loquita.
But wait, there’s more. If you’re feeling truly daring, do we have the drink for you!
Loquita’s new Hot Shot contains 1800 coconut tequila that has been infused with Carolina Reaper chillies “for somewhere between 24 and 48 hours” and is so spicy, you must sign a waiver before ordering. Big yikes.
“So it burns, to say the least,” says Brendan. No kidding.
“We want to make sure our patrons are in good health and understand the severity of what they’re about to consume,” adds Robb Collins, Group Bar Executive of HARVAC. Yes, really. We even have a picture of the waiver for you.

Hard pass.
Soothing methods are available, however, “We have extra milk on hand if people need it, but to be honest, milk is for cowards,” says Robb. RIP my self-esteem.
If that’s the case, not sure how Robb will feel when I’m crying in a corner, desperately trying to stuff ice cubes in my mouth while also mainlining a pint of Canberra Milk.
Want to try it for yourself? Loquita is open Tuesday to Saturday from 5 pm till late, and you can book at loquita.com.au. God speed.
