TikTok trending street eats are coming to Canberra for three food-filled days

Posted on

That TikTok food you’ve been craving? It’s coming to Canberra next week as part of the Viral Food Festival.

We’ve all been there: it’s 11 pm and you’re scrolling TikTok when the hook “I tried the viral…” catches your eye. An hour later, and you’re still there, desperately craving a cheese-stretching toastie or perfectly crispy chicken that looks too good to be real.

Well, grab your tripods, because you’ll be able to taste your FYP as 50 internet-famous eats make their way to Canberra this August – including the legendary Cluckin Canes dupe that broke the internet.

Bringing some of the most unreal foods that have graced our TikTok and Instagram feeds, the Canberra Viral Food Festival will have the camera rolls of foodies fully loaded as it takes over Thoroughbred Park for three food-filled days.

The adorable Son in Law buns.

Running from Friday 8 until Sunday 10 August, across the weekend you’ll be able to eat your way through all the trending street eats you’ve always wanted to try – and it sounds like a very saucy and satisfying experience.

On the menu, you’ll find the legendary Cluckin Canes Dupe and Big Mac Tacos, as well as mouth-watering Brazillian BBQ meats and cheeseburger spring rolls. The Rainbow Toastie promises that satisfying cheese stretch that demands to be filmed in slow-mo and you’ll want to line up for the Mac and Cheese Everything, because if you’re not queuing for this carb-loaded masterpiece, you’re doing the festival wrong.

The aforementioned Cluckin Canes Dupe.

Have a sweet tooth? The Disney Churro dupe with your favourite toppings will transport your tastebuds to the happiest place on Earth, and the Dessert Sticks with Biscoff crumb and Bueno sauce will have you going back for more.

But at the top of your list should be the Dubai Bubble Waffles. Think crispy waffle meets the crunchy Kataifi and rich pistachio cream that puts the viral Dubai chocolate bar to shame. And don’t sleep on the classic Acai bowls either – because sometimes you need something that at least looks healthy while you’re demolishing your third dessert stick.

Get your mouth around the Dubai Bubble Waffles!

Plus, there will also be marshmallow roasting pits, hot chocolate and food trucks from local Canberra foodie favourites. Drooling yet?

But the food is just the beginning.

There will also be rides for all ages (including a Giant Ferris Wheel), carnival games, and roving performers. Just make sure to have your camera ready for the life-sized Optimus Prime and Blue the velociraptor! Plus, a live DJ and band will have the music and vibes high all weekend long.

And make sure to pay a visit to the Wrestling Ring to watch the action (because you always need a show to watch when having a snack).

With entry tickets priced at $5 online (free for children under three) or $7 at the gate, make sure to charge your phone, pack your tripod and go very, very hungry – this food festival will leave both you and your camera roll very full.
