Not so long ago, you’d have struggled to find more than an egg and bacon…
Waffles are a breakfast favourite…or at least they’re my favourite.
Across Canberra, you can enjoy them in a variety of ways, from bubbly and soft to crunchy and savoury. Here are six to seek out.

What did the egg do when it saw the frying pan? It scrambled! 🥚🍳🥓☕️ . Hidden in Odgers Lane in civic, @church.cbd is all about attention to detail: from the perfectly curated fit out and accessories such as coffee tampers made out of recycled skateboards, to the beautifully made coffees and small yet elaborated menu. It’s also not only a cafe but a skate shop as well! We sat down outside with some friends after a tough @f45training_canberracity session, just what we needed for recovery! The B&E is far from basic, with prosciutto, provolone and a delicious homemade bbq sauce with kewpie. The roll is even better if enjoyed with one of their incredible waffle hash brown on the side! We also had a classic avo on toast, it never disappoints! Definitely get around them, enjoy a good coffo and maybe buy some goods at the shop! . •Bacon and egg roll with free range bacon, hilltop eggs, prosciutto, provolone, housemate bbq sauce and kewpie mayo with waffle hash brown •Avocado on sourdough toast with poached eggs . . #hercanberraeats #baconandeggs #wafflehashbrowns #canberrafood #outincanberra #canberrasnacks #visitcanberra #cbr #breakfastincanberra #canberra #canberrafoodprn #canberrafoodblog #australianfood #goodfoodau #foodiesincanberra #smashedavo #canberrafoodies #brunchincanberra #kbspeats #breakfast #canberraetas #canberralife #canberralocals #cbrfood #hercanberra #canberralocals #bruch #poachedeggs
Fried potato waffles….possibly served with a bacon and egg roll…and coffee at Church. Need we say more?
Red Brick Espresso
With Ccramelised apple, pecans, maple syrup and vanilla ice cream on a brown butter waffle, Red Brick Espresso in Curtain has bottled summer – just in time for winter.
Mascarpone, plum and blueberry compote, chocolate fudge and peanut brittle. Perfectly soft and sweet for Sunday brunch at Local Press.
Space Kitchen’s Unicorn Waffles might look amazing but they taste even better.
Strawberry and mango ice cream, fairy floss and watermelon curd – this is the dish to satisfy those sweet tooth cravings.
Maple + Clove
With the tagline ‘life’s short. Eat the waffles’, you can’t say no. And it’s healthy too!
Alongside their sweet waffle option, Maple + Clove offers a savoury waffle made with wholemeal spelt, zucchini and sweet corn served with smoked salmon, smashed avocado, and poached eggs.
Tamago Bubblewrap Co.
Tamago Bubblewrap Co. is an Insta-worthy dessert if ever we saw one.
These soft and bubbly delights are waffles with a Japanese twist.
Caffe Cherry Beans
Caffe Cherry Beans can be found all across Canberra, serving up a huge range of sweet and savoury traditional Belgium waffles. The real question is, how to choose between toppings…
