It’s International Burger Day and there are plenty of options out there for those who like their buns big and full.
Whether you enjoy something meatier and a little bit saucy or the perfect plant-based patty, here are some new places in Canberra where you can sink your teeth into a delicious burger.
Wonderburger (Kingston)

Returning us to the wonder years – the ’50s and ’60s – where taste reigned supreme, and the simple things meant a lot, Wonderbuger is a busy haunt for Canberrans wanting simple yet moreish burgers.
Take, for instance, the Truffle Wonderburger which combines beef with raclette cheese, fig jam, crispy onion, rocket and truffle mayo. Or the Tikkaville, combining fried chicken with Tikka sauce, coleslaw, pickled onion and mint chutney. Whatever you order, it’ll be the ultimate hunger-stopper.

Fox and Bow (Red Hill)
A favourite amongst the locals, if you’re after a burger in Red Hill you need to stop by Fox and Bow.
We have it on good authority that the Que Pasa Amigo Fried Chicken Burger is the one to try – and with Redlea organic free range chicken breast, streaky bacon, cheese, jalapeños, slaw, Chipotle mayo and chips, it’s not hard to see why.
Catbird (Parkes)

There’s only one burger on the menu at Catbird, so you know it’s going to be good. Meet the Baldwin Double.
Featuring two burger patties, American cheese, caramelised onion, lettuce, tomato, and pickles – all deliciously covered in burger sauce – all you need to do is add a bowl of waffle fries and it’s basically like Canberra’s answer to In-N-Out.

The Irvine (Florey)
Brought to life by The Knox Group in March this year, The Irvine is becoming know for amazing breakfast offerings. But did you know it also has some awesome burgers available for lunch and dinner?
The Double Fried Chicken Burger is dipped in Korean sauce with gochujang mayo and kimchi slaw while the Veg Burger has yuzu glazed tempura mushroom with dressed snow pea tendrils and lime kewpie mayo. The Cheeseburger keeps it simple with a grilled beef patty, double American cheese, gherkins, and tomato sauce. All served in a Knox milk bun and served with chips, they’ll curb any cravings.
