BLACK MARKET

Tucked into the basement of acclaimed eatery A. Baker is Canberra’s newest bar, Black Market. Green leather benches sit low against the walls with candlelit marble tables and mini chesterfield chairs. Funk and soul from the 1960s and 70s creates a relaxed vibe.

Dusky and intimate, it’s a bar for grown ups, and its proximity to Palace Electric Cinemas make it the perfect spot for a pre- or post- movie tipple, with a select small plates menu courtesy of A. Baker.

Black Market’s name comes from the bar’s focus on rare, limited edition spirits and innovative practices in cocktail making. One to track down if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary.

You could win an evening in a chauffeur-driven BMW 125i, paired with drinks and nibbles for two. If you like your cars sleek, sculpted, sporty and practical, you’ll love the BMW 1 Series.

One of the delicious dishes at Monster kitchen and bar

Monster is one of those rare places that’s as comfortable for breakfast as it is for midnight cocktails, and you never think you’re sitting in a hotel foyer.

There are nooks to hide away in, a fire to warm yourself next to, and the elegant salon right next door is a visual feast.

But the real star is the food‚ Sean McConnell — you may not recognise some of the ingredients, but the inventive regional cuisine

You could win an evening in a chauffeur-driven BMW X1 25i, paired with drinks and dinner for two. The new BMW X1 brings a spirit of freedom to the every day, with the presence to turn heads wherever it goes — the perfect match to Monster’s exciting interiors and intriguing fare.

VINCENT

Is it a wine bar or a restaurant? That kinda depends on your focus, because Vincent delivers across the food and wine spectrum.

A slick ultra modern space in Barton, the interior is blacker than black with blonde timber highlights; a ‘scrabble-tile’ wall-hung menu and wine list takes pride of place. There are just eleven main dishes to choose from in the form of small plates and large plates, with five snack plates and one dessert option.

Vincent’s concept is based on pairing exquisite food with unconventional, specifically sourced wines from around the world. So if you are a beer drinker, be aware there is only one beer on the menu. The food and wine have been specially developed to enhance each other’s flavours and each dish has a matching wine.

Let the staff take the lead on your menu choices — you won’t be disappointed!

You could win an evening in a chauffeur-driven BMW 330i paired with a dinner for two. Its powerful and dynamic coupé-like elegance will see you conveyed in style to this sophisticated new food and wine destination.

OTIS

Damien Brabender is reinventing the space formerly occupied by Kingston’s Belgian Beer Café, promising a ‘nostalgic’ menu that puts control back in the hands of the diner.

Expect simple dishes prepared with fine dining finesse and a focus on pristine produce and a “grand but casual” feel.

Doors are set to open in September.

You could win an evening in a chauffeur-driven BMW X5 paired with a dinner for two. Now in its third generation, the BMW X5 demonstrates why some things (like Otis’ nostalgia-driven philosophy) become better with age.
