Fro-Yo fans rejoice: Yo-Bar finally arrives in Civic with free bowls and exclusive flavours

Canberra’s frozen yoghurt lovers have a reason to be excited this weekend: Yo-bar is finally opening in the Canberra Centre.
With 300 free bowls up for grabs, plus the exclusive chance to try two brand-new flavours before they launch nationwide, queues are expected to stretch around the block.
Founded in Melbourne in 2023, Yo-Bar has become one of Australia’s fastest-growing dessert brands, loved for its delicious self-serve frozen yoghurt and açaí – and ever since the Canberra expansion was announced in May, local dessert lovers have been eagerly counting down the days.
Finally opening this Saturday 8 August on the corner of Genge Street and Bunda Street, Yo-Bar Head of Marketing Olivia Evans says expanding to Canberra was an easy decision.
Why? Because locals have been begging for it.

“We’ve had so much interest from Canberra over the past few years, with people regularly asking when we’d be opening a store there. Canberra has a strong food culture, a growing appetite for premium health-conscious treats, and a real sense of community, so it felt like the perfect next step for Yo-Bar,” she explains.
Designed to deliver the full Yo-Bar experience, the new venue promises to be well worth the wait.
Alongside a rotating selection of premium frozen yoghurt flavours (including the much-loved signature options), customers can build their perfect bowl at an extensive toppings bar loaded with fresh fruit, premium chocolates, biscuits, lollies, sauces, nuts, and crunchy toppings.
Olivia also promises that Canberra won’t miss out on the limited-edition flavours and seasonal toppings that have made the brand a cult favourite.
“Some of our customer favourites include Original Tart, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate and Mango, with our rotating seasonal flavours always creating plenty of excitement. We love giving customers a reason to come back and try something new,” she says.
“We offer a range of options to suit different dietary preferences, including low-fat, gluten-friendly and no-added-sugar flavours, along with dairy-free and vegan options depending on the season.”

Beyond the 300 free bowls for early birds, there are extra incentives to fro-yo yourself out of bed early on Saturday morning. The very first customers in line will score Yo-Bar rewards worth $100 and $50, while the first 50 people will receive an exclusive Yo-Bar tote bag and sticker pack.
Add in a free photo booth which will run throughout the day, and it’s a sweet, sweet way to spend a Saturday.
“Whether you’re celebrating, grabbing dessert after dinner, or looking for a refreshing afternoon treat, Yo-Bar is an experience people of all ages can enjoy,” says Olivia.
“We’re incredibly excited to become part of the Canberra community. Opening in Civic is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors, meet our new customers and become their go-to destination for frozen yoghurt. We have plenty of exciting flavours, collaborations and community initiatives planned, so this is only the start.”
