Here’s a sweeter side to our national capital that’s worth exploring.

Canberra’s artisanal cookie scene is having a moment. Sprinkled across the suburbs, local bakeries and cafés are quietly transforming the city into a paradise for cookie enthusiasts.

Whether you’re a local looking for your next sugar fix or a visitor eager to taste your way through the city, head to these sugary spots to find some of Canberra’s most irresistible cookies.

Good Neighbor (Kingston)

It’s been open for less than a year, but Good Neighbour is already known for its seriously good, sweet treats – namely the New York-style chunky cookies.

From a take on the Viral Dubai Chocolate Bar (think a cookie stuffed with Kataifi pastry and pistachio cream and topped with chocolate and pistachio cream) to white chocolate and matcha, the flavours rotate regularly, so keep an eye out!

Patissez (Manuka)

With four flavours to choose from (all baked fresh daily from 8 am), Patissez will cure your cookie craving in no time.

Think caramelised goodness in the form of Biscoff & Walnut, the perfect blend of vanilla, cream cheese, and cocoa in Red Velvet & Macadamia, a classic ooey-gooey chocolate-hazelnut combination with Nutella & Walnut and a unique twist for green tea lovers with Matcha & Macadamia.

See you there?

Our Hours (Dickson)

They had us the moment we read the word ‘crookie’ on the menu. But along with selling the mouthwatering combination of a croissant and cookie (whoever came up with that is a genius), this Korean bakery also stocks some must-try flavours like hazelnut and caramel and yellow cheese s’more. Interested? Cause we sure are…

‘Chunky’ is the word that comes to mind when you see the cookies at De Doughnut in Dickson and trust us when we say that you’ll need your stretchy pants after one of these.

Literally the size of a small plate, the flavours range from Biscoff to Red Velvet, peanut butter, TimTam and Oreo (and that’s not even all of them).

Don’t want to head into Dickson? You can also find these cookies at Early Edition in Kingston!

Indulge in Matcha & White Chocolate, Oreo, Chocolate Chip, Hazelnut Nutella, Red Velvet Cashew, and keep an eye out for the gluten-free Brownie Cookie!

There’s nothing like a classic chocolate chip cookie and Catbird knows how to do one well. House made by their talented chefs every morning, in some very exciting news for those with dietaries, they also have a gluten-free option!

You’ll just need to call the café at least 20 minutes before your arrival time, and they will have it prepped and warm ready for you.

We had a religious experience at Crack Bakery and it’s one cookie cult we want to join.  Operating as an online ordering system that’s then distributed from a kitchen near the airport, Crack Bakery is currently on pause while owners Anna and Gina Petridis expand their other eatery, Cartel Taqueria, into Belconnen.

But trust us when we say it’s worth keeping an eye on their social media for updates…and our Reel says it all.
