Why you should nominate someone for Westfield Local Heroes 2021

Posted on

The time has come once again to nominate those in our community who make a real difference. Do you know someone that deserves to be recognised and rewarded?

Celebrating Canberra’s most deserving community and environmental advocates, volunteers, entrepreneurs and leaders, Westfield Local Heroes has six $10,000 grants to be awarded to our most inspiring locals in the ACT—three from Westfield Woden and three from Westfield Belconnen respectively.

Now in their fourth year, Westfield Local Heroes has supported over 363 individuals and their organisations to thrive, including previous winners like Elizabeth Lefevre (pictured above) who created The Young Women’s Cancer Support Group – ACT & Surrounding Region, an online support group for young women with cancer.

Local heroes can come from a range of different sectors and include environmentalists, innovators, community volunteers and leaders, welfare service providers, first responders, essential workers, health and medical experts, educators, social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs. After such a trying year, there’s plenty of love to go around to those individuals who have gone that extra mile.

In nominating a local hero, you not only give a hardworking member of the community the recognition they deserve, but the chance for their cause or organisation to step into the spotlight.

However, you’ll have to get in quick with voting only open for two more weeks and closes on 15 March.

Simply head to westfield.com.au/localheroes to nominate—tell them who your hero is and why you think they’re awesome!
