Last Chance to Eat Singapore with HerCanberra

Posted on

When it comes to food, HerCanberra has become the city’s go-to source of information. Now we’re expanding our culinary horizons to Singapore—and we want you to come too!

Been thinking about joining our Trip to Singapore in August? Time is running out—you have until Sunday 30 June to book your space.

Need a reminder about what’s in store? From Wednesday 21 to Tuesday 27 August HerCanberra CEO Amanda Whitley and your local travel expert from Flight Centre Manuka will be taking a group of 16 Canberrans on the ultimate Singapore foodie adventure. Grab your girl gang, bestie, mum, sister or partner and come along!

Here’s what we’ve whipped up.

No need to trek to Sydney Airport for this trip—you’ll fly direct from Canberra Airport with Singapore Airlines, arriving in Singapore bright and early and ready to explore this amazing city.

Private vehicles will whisk you from Changi Airport to Pan Pacific Singapore—your home for the next five nights.

The luxurious five-star Pan Pacific Singapore is the perfect base from which to start your adventures. Overlooking Marina Bay, the city’s most iconic sights are mere minutes away—from the bustling streets of Orchard Road to the scenic Botanic Gardens.

Your packing list should basically look like this: stretchy pants + kaftans. Because we have some serious eating to do! Here’s what’s included in your package:

Welcome Dinner

We’re keeping the details of this a little close to our chest, as we want it to be a surprise. Needless to say, it will be a wonderful way to start five days of foodie adventuring!

A Night Out in Chinatown

Chinatown has also come a long way since the early days when Chinese immigrants made this enclave their home. Filled with a sprawling myriad of shops and eateries, bustling with colourful and exciting activities set against a backdrop of rich history and heritage, Chinatown is not to be missed—especially in the evening when everything really comes alive.

After dinner at a local Chinese restaurant, we’ll wander along the narrow lanes of the Night Market where you can test your bargaining skills against street vendors selling anything from souvenirs to leather goods.

The highlight of the evening will be a trishaw ride that will take you through the alleyways of Chinatown and down to Clarke Quay where we’ll hop onto a bumboat for a cruise along the Singapore River to see the city lit up at night, showcasing beautifully restored shop houses, modern skyscrapers of the financial district, colonial buildings and the iconic Merlion statue.

Sweet and Savoury Singapore: Hands-On Cooking Experience

Singapore is a destination made for foodies and a place that takes eating very seriously, so make like a local and spend an afternoon learning to create four of Singapore’s best-loved dishes.

An experienced chef will show you how it’s done and share valuable tips and knowledge to ensure you’ll be able to replicate the dishes at home for the ultimate culinary souvenir.

The best part? You’ll not only taste everything you make in class but you’ll be able to take some authentic, local desserts back to your hotel to enjoy at your leisure. By the pool, perhaps?

Private Little India Tour

Get a thrilling crash course in the sites, sounds and smells of vibrant Little India, one of Singapore’s most colourful and exciting neighbourhoods, on this private half-day tour.

Discover the fascinating history of Indians in the city, taste the best of their mouth-watering cuisine (hello, vadai, thosai and roti prata!), visit a truly beautiful Hindu temple and get a local’s lowdown on the best things to see and do here.

Nox – Dine in The Dark

We’ve lined up what is perhaps the most unique dining experience in Singapore—a culinary journey through taste, smell, touch and sound, in total darkness.

Seated in Nox’s pitch-black dining room, you will be guided and served by blind or visually impaired individuals who have been specially trained to offer guidance and reassurance to sighted guests.

You’ll discover an exquisite menu crafted from the finest ingredients by Nox’s Chef de Cuisine and his team, and your experience will be enhanced by the fine wine selection and unique signature cocktails customised for each individual’s palate.

In addition to these included activities, there’ll also be a number of optional group outings that you can choose to join—or you can go your own way.

Perhaps you’d like to see Singapore from the top of Marina Bay Sands, or explore Gardens by the Bay; you could head to Sentosa Island and laze around at the beach, or head to Kampong Glam to explore the boutiques of Arab Street and Haji Lane. Still up for more eating? You’ll want to check out one of Singapore’s hottest dining precincts, Club Street.

There’s just so much to see, do and eat, and we’ll be compiling a booklet choc-full of recommendations from HerCanberra and Flight Centre for all our tour guests, to ensure you get the most out of your trip.
