It’s cuffing season—and a new speed dating event has been announced

Ready to spice up your winter and warm yourself with a new flame?

It’s time to close that dating app and shuck off the oodie, Canberra singles, because you’ve got a date. Lots of them, in fact.

Love at Luna will see singles descend on Luna Bar in the city on Thursday 3 August for an “intimate encounter like no other” for “bar-crossed lovers”.

With “Canberra’s very own maestro of love”, marriage celebrant Pat Coelho, the evening will start with drinks and canapés before kicking off a round of speed dating complete with “a carefully curated series of unique and exciting activities to make each encounter a memorable one”.

For Pat, this event is all about bringing love back to IRL interactions.

“Digital dating and online hook-up apps are so impersonal and let’s face it, you really don’t know who you’re talking to,” says Pat. “We are bridging that gap by having a fun, safe, hosted environment where people can have a great experience, even if they don’t necessarily find Mr or Mrs. Right. But love is my life, so we are going to give it our best shot.”

While this edition of Love at Luna is for heterosexual singles aged between 25 to 35 years of age, Pat says this won’t always be the case.

“The event will be a monthly affair, taking place on the first Thursday night of each month,” he explains. “Each event will cater to different age demographics and embrace diverse sexual preferences. No matter who you are or what you’re seeking, there’s a special night reserved just for you.”

“The fun begins even before the first date, as guests will be treated to welcome drinks and delectable canapes. You can sip on a delicious cocktail, savour the mouth-watering bites and soak up the vibrant atmosphere, all while mingling with fellow love-seekers.”

Ready to warm up your winter? As someone who has attended speed dating in the name of journalism, I can personally attest to how un-awkward these events actually are.
