Getting married? You know there’s a Canberra-specific wedding website, right?

Florals, photo booths, a celebrant, reception venue, photographer, catering…
When it comes to planning your big day, the list is extensive. But you know there’s a website that brings all of these elements together (and more) exclusively for Canberra weddings…right?
Offering an inclusive and empowering directory for Canberra couples, Weddings of Canberra is a one-stop-shop for anyone getting married in Canberra and surrounds and wanting to support small local businesses.
Founder Michael Bower explains that the wedding industry is built on small businesses, often sole providers, who sometimes get lost in the noise of search engines. Thus, Weddings of Canberra was born.
“It can be tricky for independent, small businesses to get their name out there and get noticed,” he explains.
“That’s where the idea for Weddings of Canberra was born. A one-stop-shop for couples to make planning a wedding more fun and less hassle. And a platform for our super local vendors to stand up and be noticed for the incredible work they do.”
Featuring a directory of more 75 wedding-related vendors across Canberra (including all the big names), Weddings of Canberra has engaged couples covered for everything.
Desperately need a dessert table? Done. Seeking a stylist? Sorted. Hen’s party to organise and no ideas? Ask a professional to do it for you. And you’ll have the benefit of knowing your money will stay in the Canberra community.
Michael says the benefit of choosing small and local has shone through in recent years in light of COVID travel restrictions and financial hardship faced by small businesses during lockdowns.
“People like to know that their suppliers are close by,” he explains. “And they like knowing they’re supporting a local start-up too.”
In addition to traditional vendor categories like Photographers and Marriage Celebrants, the website also makes sure to keep on top of modern wedding trends, like micro-weddings and live-streaming services to include family and friends living abroad, with inclusive language and photography used throughout the website to make sure everyone knows they’re welcome.
There’s also an extensive blog where Michael and his team have tackled tricky topics like kid-free vs kid-friendly weddings and alternatives to a traditional wedding cake.
For Michael, it’s about personalising the sometimes-overwhelming process of planning a wedding—and helping small local vendors shine in the process.
“We’ve been helping all sorts of couples tie the knot in Canberra for years. So if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, we’ll help you stay sane whilst planning an awesome wedding that is uniquely you.”
“Cousin Shirley wants to do a French horn solo while you walk down the aisle? Don’t worry, we’ve got people for that,” he laughs.
