Kristen Henry’s Wedding: the bride tells

Posted on

Canberra celebrity, MIX106.3 radio personality Kristen Henry (now Davidson!) married Iain Davidson in New Zealand on Saturday 4 May. We have the details.

Tell us about how you two met?

2016, Hopscotch on Lonsdale street, a Wednesday night and I had the balls to kiss Iain on the first night.

How and when did Iain propose?

Santorini, Greece. During a European holiday.

What was your ceremony and reception venue?

Blanket Bay New Zealand, just outside Queenstown, with 44 of our nearest and dearest.

What was your motivation for having a destination wedding?

We wanted to create a memory, this was more than just an “I do” it was a three day adventure holiday. We wanted it to be different.

Why did you choose your venue for your wedding reception and ceremony?

It was something different, a flight without it being too far away. The scenery too, OMG.

How/where did you get ready for the big day?

We were all on site, we arrived on the Thursday and the Wedding was the Saturday. We had organised hair and makeup for the guests too so all the ladies got ready together. We drank tea, champagne, listened to music.

Tell us about the wedding dress?

Steven Khalil designed my dress. Well, we designed it together. Working with his was a dream come true he is so creative and kind. I wanted something strong, classic, different.

What was the highlight?

The highlight was our gift to the guests…the helicopter to the top of the alps in Glenorchy to take a group shot. It was a complete surprise.

After our ceremony our celebrant asked our guests to pose for a group shot, then advised that the Bride and Groom wanted another pic but at a different location and the “taxi’s” would be arriving in a moment. To watch their faces as four helicopters landed on the property is a moment I will never forget. We rugged up, boarded and there was champagne waiting for us on the mountain.

What did guests say they loved about the day?

A close group, intimate setting, amazing food and a surprise chopper ride.

Your absolute favourite part of the day?

My Nan passed away the same week as we said I do. My fave moment was being able to have a quite cheers with my Mum before walking down the aisle and thinking of Nan.

Where did you honeymoon?

No honeymoon, back to my radio show!
