Australia’s biggest second-hand treasure hunt is back for another year – and it kicks off this weekend

Three million pre-loved items, two big weekends, and one massive thrift shop: the Garage Sale Trail is back to help those living in the ACT region shop until they drop.

Running across two weekends (Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 and Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November), the four-day festival of pre-loved fashion will once again be taking place to shine a spotlight on the benefits of slow fashion.

Helping you find some bang for your buck or extend the life of your pre-loved goodies, the Garage Sale Trail originally began in Sydney in 2010 before expanding across the nation to inspire Australians to extend the life of the stuff we buy.

In 2023, over 400,000 Australians shopped or sold at more than 14,000 garage sales across the nation, extending the life of over 4.8 million kgs of pre-loved items, and saving them from landfill.

This year is expected to be even bigger – and with 2,919,762 pre-loved items for sale in 11,088 garage sales across Australia, it’s no surprise that over 400,000 people are expected to hit the streets, shopping from garages, gardens, car boots, schools, and unit blocks across the nation.
