They might located be in Cooma, but birdsnest’s reputation is going global.
Yesterday, much-loved e-commerce brand birdsnest took out the gong for both Excellence in Customer Experience Award and the Independent Retailer Of The Year Award at the 2019 eftpos Australian Retailers Association Awards.
Nestled in the Snowy Mountains, just 1.5 hours from Canberra, birdsnest was founded by Jane Cay who started with a bricks-and-mortar store before launching online in 2008.
Almost a decade later, birdsnest employs more than 140 Snowy Mountains’ locals and has helped more than 85,000 women across Australia find a way to express their personal style.
“The real magic of this business began when we realised we were in the service industry,” explains Jane.
“We are the matchmaker between the girl and her perfect outfit which goes way beyond providing a vast range of styles for different body shapes and personalities. We inspire confidence in women by solving wardrobe dilemmas.”
The 2019 Manhattan Associates Excellence In Customer Experience Award acknowledges not only a business’ customer service, but the entire customer journey, something that birdsnest strives to perfect.
But it’s also all about the people behind the brand.
“I truly, really believe that you don’t have happy customers unless you have a happy team,” says Jane. “I see my core responsibility as being to nurture the team and ensure that they are happy and enjoying their roles, and have a work environment in which they can thrive.”
