Tips to add warmth and style to your kitchen for less.

There’s no denying the kitchen is the heart of the home, but too often it can also become a disaster zone where paperwork, school gear and other items pile up.

Today we want to inspire you to turn your kitchen into a stylish and functional space by sharing our favourite kitchen styling ideas!

Kitchens can look cluttered when items are placed all over; instead, consider creating designated arrangements like these!

Cutting board stack

A go-to item we need daily in the kitchen is the cutting board so why not put it within easy reach by keeping it on your kitchen bench?

Cutting boards look great when rested against a wall or splashback—mix shapes, sizes and materials for interest.

Fresh herb plants in the kitchen create that feeling of home and add a big pop of greenery.

You can find a planter to suit your interior style, from metal buckets for a more country aesthetic to sleek white and timber planters like the one we used from IKEA in this modern kitchen styling.

No matter what your drink of choice is—coffee, tea, smoothies or even protein shakes—there is a way of turning the items you use into a stylish arrangement.

Tips to making it look great include sticking to a theme or colour palette, using stylish canisters for coffee beans or tea bags, stacking cups or finding items at different height levels, and even resting artwork behind like the ‘Coffee, coffee, coffee’ print we made. You can also place these items on a large tray, which anchors the arrangement and helps reduce spills or staining on your bench top.

Drawer organisation

A stylish kitchen isn’t just about what you see immediately—what’s going on inside your drawers and cupboards is just as important.

With a few simple drawer liners and storage pieces, such as cutlery trays, you can turn your cupboards into Pinterest-worthy spaces.

Finishing details

The smallest details can often make the biggest impact. Consider these neat little tricks:

  • Put hand wash in a stylish pump, like this one from IKEA
  • Crisp tea towels bring in a softer element and look great draped over the stove or sink
  • Add greenery wherever possible, like the mini succulent pot by the sink.

We hope these kitchen styling ideas have inspired you! All of the items we used to create these arrangements can be found at IKEA Canberra.
