This week it’s all about focus, as Ashley and Cass visit the minimalist Red Hill…
Blissiimo has opened on Lonsdale Street in Braddon, with more than 30 independent brands of olfactory goodness.
Does Lonsdale Street smell a little sweeter this week?
Canberra’s first niche perfumery has opened its doors in the ORI building in Braddon—just where Rebel Muse used to reside—and even the most hard-nosed passers-by will fall for its olfactory allure.
Blissiimo is a collaboration between Canberra School of Art graduate Amanda Hammond and Marketing Psychologist Tiffany Manning. Together, the pair have worked on a number of projects nationally and internationally, including designing for Baz Luhrmann, Fox Studios and Harvey Nichols London.
But they have returned to their hometown to add a sense of theatre and bohemian intrigue to their retail outlet, rejecting the “trendy over-edited minimalism” which they believe is “impersonal and depressing”.
We have to agree as we duck under chandeliers and peruse each spotlit shelf filled to the brim with rare and intriguing scents, encouraged by the lovely sales assistant to take our time, pick things up, smell them and discover new sensory frontiers.
Blissiimo brings more than 30 independent brands to Canberra, including the cult favourite “Cire Trudon”—the most exclusive candle brand in the world.
There’s also Floris Maison Crivelli, Lubin, Robert Piguet P Frapin and Cie.
It’s a beautiful permanent home for the store that previously held a shop within Fyshwick’s Designer Op Shop Emporium.
