Five places we love shopping KBeauty and JBeauty in Canberra
Posted on
If you’re a skincare or haircare devotee, you’re likely as obsessed with Korean skincare and beauty (Kbeauty) and Japanese skincare and beauty (JBeauty) as the HerCanberra team is.
Finding ourselves comparing favourite shopping spots time and time again in the office, we’re now spilling the tea (or should that be the toner?) on where to find those viral products right here in Canberra.
Daiso (Belconnen)
Humble Daiso, once thought to be just a haven for affordable organisational bits and bobs and cute Japanese stationery, is actually PACKED with Japanese skincare that you’ll recognise from many an enviable ‘What I bought on my recent trip to Tokyo’ haul.
Last visit I bought the viral Shiseido Tsubaki Premium Repair Hair Mask (so silky) and the Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil (delicious) and highly recommend them both.
La Cosmetique (City)
La Cosmetique, which has stores all over Australia and in Canberra is located in Canberra Centre’s Beauty Garden, stocks a heavenly range of KBeauty cosmetics – all the big brands are here. There’s skincare too, of course, so if you’re dipping your toe in the water with a viral product like Cosrx’s Snail Mucin, this is where to find it.
Tk Maxx (Fyshwick)
Not the first place you’d expect to find KBeauty, but Tk Maxx in fact imports a huge amount of hard-to-find Korean brands and yes, they’re all discounted. Across the years I’ve picked up goodies from Innisfree, Dr Jart, Skin Food, Tony Moly, Laneige and SKIN1004 and they usually have a good selection of sheet mask packs and bath products too.
My top tip: go first thing on a Saturday when they open at 10 am to get the pick of the bunch.
Nikki Cosmo (City)
Arguably Canberra’s first KBeauty store, Nikki Cosmo has a wide range of KBeauty and JBeauty hair, makeup and skincare products, including many beloved Japanese eye makeup brands like Isehan. There’s also a range of snacks, toys, personal hygiene, hair colour and gifts.
Z Cosme Store (City)
The closest KBeauty store to the HerCanberra office (and therefore close to our hearts), Z Cosme is a teensy yet well-stocked store near No Name Lane. Inside you can find an excellent selection of ‘greatest hits’ from Korean and Japanese brands, like the Ishizawa-Lab Keana Rice Mask (my most recent purchase), Goodal’s Green Tangerine range and one of my favourite products, mask spray, which infuses your face mask with scents like peppermint or fresh laundry and makes wearing a mask on planes a treat.
