Outdoor heating: here’s how to bring the warmth and serious ambience this winter

Posted on

Well team, we had a good run with the warmer temperatures.

I’m not sure about you, but I didn’t even consider touching the switch of my heater before ANZAC Day this year, which is unheard of. But I think it’s safe to say Canberra’s notorious chill has well and truly set in, and we’re in it for the long haul.

And while yes, baby, it’s cold outside, that doesn’t mean you need to stay firmly indoors to stay comfortable for the next four (or, let’s be honest, six) months. An outdoor heater can completely transform your home’s alfresco space, whether it’s a balcony, courtyard, or sprawling backyard. A heater will not only take the edge off the teeth-chattering temperature and keep things comfortable and cosy, the gentle glow adds an extra level of ambience that’ll take your space to the next level.

On the hunt for a heater? Burning Log are Canberra’s indoor and outdoor heating experts, and they exclusively stock a wide range of heating options, many that you won’t find anywhere else in town.

When choosing an outdoor heater, you’ve generally got four options: wood, ethanol, electric, or gas. Browsing online is a great place to start and get your head around what’s available, but the Burning Log experts always suggest heading in-store. Their team of heating specialists can show you through the wide range of options available, and most importantly, can advise on the best option for your space.

Here are four options to kick start your search:

Wood fire: Uluru 100cm Cast Iron Fire Pit

Place this cast iron fire pit in your outdoor space and you’ll have everyone flocking to stand close by. This is a low-maintenance option with great durability, and its thick cast iron and solid construction means you can produce a sizable and very toasty fire.

Its rustic look, with a natural rust finish, also means it will look great in your space when the fire is out. Just make sure someone brings the marshmallows.

Ethanol: EcoSmart Gin Dining Table

Pull up a seat around this stunning outdoor dining table, which doubles as a heater. The elongated burners are the centrepiece, fuelled by clean-burning, environmentally-friendly bioethanol, while there’s plenty of space around the edge to host an elegant dinner party. Available in-store only.

Electric: Infratech Stainless Steel Slimline Electric Heater

Less worried about what it looks like and just more that it gets the job done? This slimline option stays tucked away on your wall, making it perfect for small spaces, but it packs a punch with commercial-grade heating.

It even warms up to full capacity in just 90 seconds. All that, and it offers a high level of energy efficiency. Available in different colours and sizes to suit your space.

Gas: Jetmaster Horizon

For the ultimate wow factor, check out the Jetmaster Patio Horizon Panoramic gas fire. It’s not just a heater, but an outdoor feature piece that’s surprisingly easy to install.

Turn it on with the flick of the switch, then you’re free to sit back, soak up the ambience of the mesmerising flame, and let the gentle warmth creep over you. Available in-store only.
