The joy of a flower delivery that keeps on delivering

Posted on

Receiving a bunch of flowers is one of life’s great joys. But imagine the added joy if they simply keep arriving at your door?

Juniper Blooms is launching a subscription service for flowers, promising fresh seasonal blooms to your door every fortnight or month.

It is a set-and-forget method to spread a little floral joy with the added bonus that $5 from every bunch delivered goes towards the medical research not-for-profit Black Dog Institute which focuses on mental health.

The brainchild of Grace Walter, Juniper Blooms is both something you can order for yourself—much in the same way you might order a subscription meal kit delivery service—or order as an extra special gift for someone you love. It means fresh flowers in the home and the thrill of knowing something unexpected is going to be delivered.

Grace Walter, founder of Juniper Blooms.

Grace, who completed her Certificate III in Floristry at the Canberra Institute of Technology last year, follows the advice of French impressionist painter Claude Monet, “I must have flowers, always and always”.

Unlike a traditional florist shop, she is operating a subscription-only service.

“We don’t do daily bunches, weddings or events, just subscriptions! This allows us to offer great value with free delivery within Canberra.

“We wanted to create a flower subscription service so you can keep the flower love going for someone special in your life, or as a way to treat yourself.”

The mother of two said she has received a positive reaction to her business proposal from friends and strangers alike.

“The flower subscription has been likened to a Netflix/coffee beans/wine subscription. In particular, by those who love having flowers in their homes regularly just because flowers make you feel good.”

She said the service offers maximum flexibility.

“We make it easy to buy a flower subscription—you can choose to pay-per-delivery, or fixed term, and you can redirect, pause or cancel your subscription at any time.”

Each fortnight or month, new flowers will arrive which are seasonal and different to the previous delivery. All flowers are Australian-grown, using bio-degradable packaging of hessian and twine.

Grace’s target market is anyone who loves flowers, or people who want to gift flowers for special occasions, but make it an even more generous gift.

“We appeal to anyone wanting to give a thoughtful gift that keeps the celebration going—for example, a new mum who has given birth will receive flowers at the hospital and then monthly flowers once they get home to celebrate new motherhood!”

She also noted that the idea of extending the love expressed on Mother’s Day was popular and has a special offer of three months of flower deliveries to mum’s door with a free glass vase and a hand-drawn botanical greeting card—all available to order at the click of a mouse.

Grace also wants to use her subscription platform to give back by supporting mental health organisations based on her own experiences.

“In Australia, around five million people experience symptoms of mental illness and roughly 60 per cent won’t seek help. Fortunately I did get help and my ongoing journey with maintaining good mental health is what led me to study floristry.

“At Juniper Blooms, we have signed up to be part of Black Dog Institute’s Retailers Doing Good program to donate $5 from each bouquet sold to support mental health research and education. Black Dog Institute turns ground-breaking research into life-saving action, making a real difference to those living with mental illness.”

Juniper Blooms also runs Flower Sessions for local community groups in Canberra. Free of charge, these sessions are designed for mindfulness and focus on wellbeing during the creative process of flower play.

Juniper Blooms offers fortnightly or monthly subscriptions starting from $69 per bunch. Delivery is free within Canberra. Go to
