Transform your outdoor space with furniture that keeps on giving

Posted on

If you’re lucky enough to have a bit of outdoor space—whether it’s sprawling acreage, a beautifully manicured garden, or a cosy balcony—nothing transforms the area and ensures you’ll make the most of it like adding some outdoor furniture and furnishings.

A deck chair, outdoor lounge, day bed or outdoor dining set that you actually love and want to use will ensure your alfresco area is well-loved and used by you and your guests, instead of being overrun by a population of spiders.

But where does one start when furnishing their space? Outdoor furniture isn’t necessarily an area you want to skimp on. As well as standing the test of time, it also needs to stand up to the elements, and still be comfortable and in great condition for all of the years you want to enjoy it. And investing in an outdoor piece or setting that suits your home now might seem risky when you plan to move to a bigger place later or even expand or renovate your existing space.

Jessica from Burning Log, who have been Canberra’s experts in outdoor furniture for 35 years, says a great way to ensure your purchase continues to work for you over the years is to buy a piece in a super flexible range.

“If you find a flexible and versatile range, you can buy pieces and add to them as you go, so your outdoor furniture can evolve to suit your lifestyle and your needs, but also all match for a sophisticated look,” she says.

“For example if you don’t have much space, you could start with a two-seated bar table to make the most of space on a tiny balcony. Later, that table could be used alongside your bar fridge for a casual drinks space, and you could add the matching outdoor dining set, which can expand as the family grows or you need to entertain for large groups. Then perhaps later, when you have more time and space to indulge in your alfresco space, you could add a beautiful daybed or outdoor couch.”

The Corfu Range.

At Burning Log, the Corfu range is a versatile series that comes in a range of sizes, with something to suit most spaces.

Table sizes range in length and height, from a bar table, which will fit on the tiniest balcony, right through to a diverse range of dining table sizes including an extendable option which will expand to 3.4 metres for when you’re entertaining.

You can choose between matching chairs, benches, or a combination of both. Chairs are stackable, so they can be easily stored when not needed, while the benches are designed to fit completely under the respective table so they can be tucked away.

For something a little more cosy, the Corfu modular lounge can be ordered according to how many seats you require, and can be configured to incorporate a corner table which doubles as a coffee table.

From the smallest piece to the largest setting, everything in the Corfu range is low maintenance and long-lasting. It’s made from quality materials like FSC certified plantation teak, which has been harvested sustainably, and lightweight, rust-free aluminium frame.
